Saved my knees in Yosemite!
I'm currently in physical therapy for an old sports injury that acted up again, and wasn't sure if I'd be able to hike much on my upcoming camping trip to Yosemite. I decided to get some trekking poles to see if they'd help me make the most of my time there. With these poles, I was able to hike fifteen miles in one day (the Mist Trail, Mirror Lake, and Lower Yosemite Falls trails). Given how unstable my knees are, I surely wouldn't have been able to hike even half of that without poles. I'll never go on steep hikes without them again--even if you're in great shape with healthy joints, the added stability and reduced strain make hiking sooooo much more efficient. With most from waterfalls and occasional rain, a lot of the trails I hiked were rocky, steep, muddy, and slippery; it was so handy having basically an extra set of legs to keep me upright and moving quickly.I'm not sure how these compare to other brands as I've never tried trekking poles before, but I was very pleased with these--pretty lightweight, comfy grips, easily adjustable size. If one of the screws tightening the lock gets a little loose (which isn't unheard of after fifteen miles of hiking), it's very easy to manually tighten them back up.

I got these for my wife who is having some stability issues when walking. She's a heavier person, and these are sturdy enough for her to lean on for support. The adjustable length lets her set a comfortable length and collapse down to a small size about 20 in. for carrying in the car. The flip clamps hold well, and can be tighted by turning a knob to be tightened if needed. One black knob did break off, but the metal knob underneath was enough to use for tightening it. My wife is pleased because she looks more sporty than infirmed using a walking stick. It provides much more stability because it is higher than a cane at your side. Very helpful.

I purchased these poles for a trip to Hawaii where I knew I'd be doing a bit of hiking. I wanted something that was lightweight, would fit in my checked luggage, and give me some extra support in rough terrain for my wonky knee. These did the job. I remember reading one person complain about the poles not staying at the setting, they would slip down and collapse when you put weight on them. This is true. But I discovered that if you tighten the screw where the flip locks are, this no longer happens. Fortunately I figured this out before the end of my trip! They worked perfectly. The inclusion of multiple tips for different terrain and the follow up email telling me when/how to use them were very helpful for a first time trekking pole owner. Overall very pleased. Would give 5 stars, but for the slipping issue: they need to put that in big red letters with pictures in documentation somewhere. It says something about a screw on the tag, but it's not clear and the tag is only on one pole. I only used one pole and of course it was the one without the tag, but it wouldn't have been readily apparent to me that was what I was supposed to do. (Yes, I realize I sound stupid!) But, I've never owned these before, so I really didn't know what to expect and I suspect others may have a similar issue.

I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these again or recommend them, though! Did the job nicely at an inexpensive price.

My first trekking poles. At 71 years and arthritic feet and a bad knee, I was hoping these poles would enable me to still get out on the trails for hiking and hunting. I spent a full day hunting in the Oregon Cascades last week and started out with the poles strapped to my day pack. After a couple hours my knee was clicking and screaming for relief. Unstrapped the poles, extended them and was amazed at the support and relief they provided. Not going to wait for pain next time. Just going to start out using the poles. Love them. They’re easy to extend and very strong. These poles are going to allow me to continue tramping thru the woods and trails I love so well!

Wasn't sure if I needed to spend the big bucks on hiking poles as I has never used them in the past. With some light research and tight budget, I chose these poles for my trip to Mt Kilimanjaro. I did a couple of practice hikes in GA and NC to get used to using poles and quickly found them very useful. And once getting used to them, I won't go on any climb or serious hike without them! Most importantly, they did great all the way up and back down Mt Kilimanjaro!! I highly recommend these poles for sure!

My husband and I are taking a trip to the Galopolos and Machu Picchu and bought these poles specifically for this adventure! So far we love the durability and lightweight. They will fit nicely in our luggage. We have used them just for walking to play with them to get the feel and they are great. The customer service from the owner, Sherman, has been like no other. We have NEVER experienced such customer service from anyone (and I buy a lot online!!) I will send follow up upon our return from our lifetime adventure on our experience with this product

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, reliable, and quality where it counts
Reviewed in Canada on July 27, 2022
I hike and scramble thousands of kms per year, with 100,000+ m annual elevation gain. I generally use poles for most downhill, especially in scree/rubble, and sometimes when backpacking, as well as for balance when fording creeks. It's fair to say that I have had a lot of experience using these poles.

The poles are aluminum, which is light and durable enough. A more expensive brand is not going to improve on that - aluminum is aluminum. You could go carbon fiber which might be marginally lighter, but then you are more likely to snap a pole. Plus with these poles, they are easy to take apart, so if you ever break a segment and need to buy a second pair, you can use parts from the first pair for future repairs to the second pair, which is great.

These poles have nice metal clips that have never failed me - avoid "twist-clips" and plastic clips like the plague. I bought some twist clip poles once that literally failed in a day.

Some people will go for expensive brands because they have real cork on the handles or whatever. The synthetic handles on these poles are comfortable. I don't get blisters. They work. Cheaper hard-plastic poles are not great, but the soft synthetic stuff on these do the job. Don't waste money on fancy brands because they have cork or something.

Some fancy poles have some kind of shock-absorbing nonsense. Sounds like a solution looking for a problem.

Poles are glorified sticks, and they should be cheap. These glorified sticks are cheap, and they do everything they need to do reliably.

I should add that I was always a pole skeptic, and I still think people use them in situations where they are absolutely not necessary. It took a while to convince myself they were worth using. So the respect I have for these poles is hard-won!

Fijne stokken. Goed verstelbaar in lengte.
