Build: These thing are built incredibly good. The pictures don't do these justice. The aluminum that looks sorta dinky in the pictures feels really solid in the hands. And I really like that there's the glass section that you can look through to see the drivers, very cool. It's not styled for me, I definitely prefer something a bit less flashy, but its built like a tank. The biggest down side to me is that the cord terminates to a 2.5 mm (I think) input to the headphones. I woulda liked to see a single sided 3.5mm so that it could be used with a mod mic more easily, but its not really a big deal.
Sound
Overall: These sound really punchy and have that bassier fun signature that is more common on products like Beats, albeit not to the extreme of those products. They overall aren't the most detailed or highest resolving headphones, but they still a step above most consumer grade products.
Highs: The lower highs (which are what I care more about) that are still produced by the main driver do tend to get a bit drowned out by the bass. That said, cymbals and the really high stuff, is made by the ceramic tweeter (if I remember right) and those really stand out of the mix, not louder, just better separation. Overall they're not going to match a decent pair of open backs with highs, but they're not bad by any means. If you care about highs more, check out the 6xx's or 58x's by Senheiser. Those are much more resolving headphones and have a more natural airy sound than these do (and they're more comfy).
Midds: Same story as the highs, but more extreme. The midds are the most muddied by the bass but again they don't sound terrible when alone. Again open backs do midds much better. If you want good midds check out something else. This just does midds, it just lacks texture and detail for the price range its at. If you really care about mids, check out the same Sennheiser headphones I mentioned earlier.
Bass: The bass completely dominates everything. Like the rest of the sound it's not particularly detailed, there's just a lot of it. The sub base isn't stellar or particularly loud, but the mid bass is really loud. If your a fan of mid bass sound, you'll love these. The quality could be better, but its not bad, and people that just dig mid bass are going to love the in your face tonality of these frequencies on this headphone.
Other features: I love the case that comes with the headphone. Its small enough to fit in a mid sized pocket on most back packs, and the headphones fold into it nicely. I think that every tech product over $100 ought to come with a decent protective carrying case. I'm glad 1More agree.
Who's it for?
Given the easy-to-drive nature of these they'll sound great off a phone. They also fold down into a small case, and are closed back so they won't leak a lot of sound. These qualities make it a great headphone for use in public on commutes, in airports, etc. Its going to beat out any Beats, Bose, or Sony headphones in sound quality, especially if you like your bass and the punchy sound of these. They're perfect if that sounds like something that you need. Look at them as a wired, better, version of the Beats Solo line. If you want these for at home use however, check out a nice pair of open backs. For the price you can find a lot of headphones that sound better and are more comfy than these no matter what sound signature you like. Check out the Hifiman 4xx's, Senheiser 58x's, Philips Fidelio X2 HR's, or the Beyerdynamic 770/880/990 line of headphones. All provide different sounds depending on what you want, are in the same general price range ($1-200) and destroy these in resolution and detail retrieval. But for mobile use these are kings due to the size especially if you like punchy bass.
The wire is similar to an earbud wire and although it favorably goes into both sides, the connection to the headphones is hard to put in and pull out. These headphones are aesthetically beautiful, but are smaller and fall on the ear not over~ear.
This headphone is definitely overpriced. I kept the headphone because the sound can be tweaked with an equalizer or external DAC/AMP, and it sounds better assisted. Still, it should sound very good on its own for the price.
Better alternative headphones~ Klipsch On~Ear, Grado On~Ear, PSB M4U1/2, even Edifier Audiophile. I also enjoy the sound of Superlux headphones more. In this case, 1MORE fails to rise to the level of the competition at a better price, and is in fact undercut in price by better sounding alternatives. Again, I still own it for quality other than its sound, the high resolution, and my ability to enhance the sound through external tech.
COMPARISON SHOPPING IS A MUST.
01/2021 Update: After many hours of listening with this headphone, the bass has settled into the mix & there is much better balance to the sound. It is a relaxed, highly detailed sound. Not the largest soundstage, but just enough instrument separation. It is a coherent, coordinated overall sound. Although the headband fit could be tighter, earcups do provide a good seal. It took a long time for the sound to settle into a balanced presentation~ too long.
Top reviews from other countries
I have a larger head, but comfort isn't too bad since they only get bothersome after a few hours of wear. I would not recommend them if you wear glasses since they do sit on your earlobes. The earpads are very comfortable though and the headband is also nicely padded.
The package and build quality are all around exceptional though, they have a very premium feel. Unlike in the description, the headphones also come with a hard carrying case and the cable has a microphone on it (with controls).
The version you receive seems to depend on luck of the draw, but I presume the ones currently sold by Amazon are all graphene driver + mic cable version.
