Defective power switch design or condensation leads to early failure of the switch, unit won't turn off.
A great way to observe the wildlife in an area of interest. I got this to see what was going on with some small animal that was burrowing under our house's foundation. Of all the options of trail/game cameras out there, I decided to go with this one based on other reviews and being from a brand that I know. Well, it worked like a charm. Left it out overnight after receiving it yesterday and sure enough, I have identified the critter I need to deal with. I won't go into those detail since some people wil have differing opinions on the best way to handle this situation. In any case, I can say that setting up the trail camera was fairly intuitive. I didn't read the manual, which I will eventually get around to, but setting the date, setting the image quality and setting the mode were easy to figure out. I had it setup in about 5 mins and aimed at my target area. As you can see from the images, the little rat is clearly visible both climbing the retaining wall and sitting there figuring out what to do as I had blocked the place he had been digging out. This area is in complete darkness (we live in the country) and the illumination is provided only by the camera. It was about 4 feet away from the wall aiming up where I figured the critter's trail was.Overall this is a solid feeling camera, with no visible glow from the IR LEDs. It's weather proof via a door in the front that opens the lower front half to access the backlight LCD screen and the various buttons (menu, enter, up, down, left and right). There is also an on/off switch so you know that it's actually turned off (or on). The cover also hides the SD card slot, a micro USB port, a TV out port and the battery tray ejector switch.Turning on the unit, it immediately starts up and you can see a count down on the LCD screen. This is the arming countdown, so you don't end up with a memory card full of your smiling face as you finish up the setup/activation.The package includes a strap so you can wrap it around a tree and the instruction manual. There's also a lock loop so you can lock the door closed, but since it's a plastic case, I only see this as a deterrent to tampering or deactivating it. On the bottom there is a screw thread, so you could tripod mount it, there's also a pair of slots to you can stake the camera to the ground, although the alignment would be sideways. Finally, there's also a water resistant cover on the bottom so you can remove the cover and power the camera from an external power source, however, since the battery lasts a long time (according to documentation and other reviews) that I'm not sure what the purpose would be, other than a semi-permanent installation for a field biologist. This is the first game/trail camera I have used, but this seems very well thought out and seems to have anything a hunter or someone wanting to observe wildlife would need.Update 2/11/17After jsut over a month, the on/off switch has stopped working, it stays on all the time now. I now have to remove the batter pack to turn it off. The switch has been used maybe 20 times, probably closer to a dozen. I don't believe any water has entered the unit either as the door has been latched closed. I wonder if maybe condensation formed inside the unit after bringing the camera indoors, however I would have expected the water to evaporate after a time and the switch would work correctly again. I think the switch is faulty or poorly designed, leading to an early failure. It still works but this is annoying to have to remember to pull the pack out to turn it off.

Outstanding product. Purchased it to deter less than stellar neighbors and it's worked like a charm and then some. Infrared works great as does daytime. The highest resolution was so good that I set it back a bit. It was triggered by the neighbors dog moving, and this was motion that was caught through railing on my deck and the dog was about 70-80 feet away! I cropped one pic to show the dog on the leash and the other caught the dog loose, on my deck. Also caught the UPS guy! :) The neighbors shouldn't own a dog. Anyway, I give this a top rating.

Update Feb. 25, 2017; I'm still on the original set of batteries and the camera says 76% still left! That's with more than 5,000 8mp pictures taken. I have no need for video so I don't have any idea how long they'd last utilizing that mode. A great investment.

Note: I paid full price for this Trail Cam & had no incentive to write this review

Bought it to record wildlife activity. I also purchased this holder
Hme Products Better Trail Camera Holder, Olive  to mount it as I figured the included strap would be a hassle to use, and it was.

For the price point, this Browning Strike Force HD camera does exactly what I wanted it to do. I was relatively easy to configure and set up. After ~6 months, my 6- AA Duracell batteries were down to 26%. I only was recording short videos when it detected motion. I used this 32GB SD card with no issues
SanDisk 32GB Class 4 SDHC Memory Card, Frustration-Free Packaging- SDSDB-032G-AFFP (Label May Change)

Pro tip: Get a 2nd memory card so that when you go to the cam you can just swap cards instead of taking the whole cam back to your computer -- DOH -- took me 3 trips before I figured out to do that. :)

Daytime pictures, hands down the best camera i have in the field. I have 6 other mixed cameras from the moutrie line that consist of the following: 990 GEN2, 880 GEN2, Panoramic.
The Browning Strike Force HD Camera is hands down the best daytime picture camera i have. It has only been in the field for a month now so its hard to give it 5 stars just yet.
Also, this camera only needs 6 AA batteries instead of your typical 8 ( 12vdc ). Read a lot of reviews that the battery life is exceptionally good, as i hope to see. It is very simple to set up, very light and compact ( smallest camera i own, i was actually surprised by the size of it ). Night time pictures are good, but what stood out most to me was the clarity of the daytime photos.
I plan to purchase more, depending on how well it holds up through the season and next summer. As for now though, I highly recommend this camera to all of my fellow hunters out there.

This is a great unit. Super clear images and really responsive motion detection. Great IR flash range +40' with clear images.
Very compact!
Good battery life so far.
Browning time lapse viewer plus feature is cool during the day or to use camera as a scout over a new field or area. Only issue is it does not activate IR at night unless movement is detected so you get a lot of black images. Makes sense since this would really drain battery life quickly. The viewing software is pretty straightforward and useful. Only con there is no full screen mode viewing time lapse. You can zoom but full screen mode or ability to re-size viewing window would be nice.
Only real con I have is the latch feels pretty tight and may break easily once really cold weather sets in. Other reviewers have mentioned this.
Overall I will be adding another of these cameras to my arsenal because I like one I have already so much.
Hard to find a better camera in my eyes at this price.

This review is aimed towards Browning, not the seller. Long story short... First use of camera, set it up fine put it in the woods. Next morning display won't light up. Cycled on - off switch, nothing. Ok, maybe it used up the batteries overnight. Get home, remove card to see if I got anything. Had some decent looking daytime pictures, no night pictures. Found out that it was taking pictures of me carrying it thru the woods back to camp even tho there was no display and the power switch was off. Try to upload the new software version from Browning's website, one of the menu selections won't change from "no" to "yes" to allow camera to load new software. I email Browning. They want me to send it back on my dime. Forgot to mention, by removing the battery pack and reinserting it, the display came back and showed 100% battery. I'm very disappointed with the camera. I would just send it back but I'd be stuck with the metal case I bought for it. I suppose I'll send it in and give an update on here as to how it goes.

1.0 out of 5 stars The camera scares moose away
Reviewed in Canada on January 10, 2018
Looks good and presents a very robust construction. However, moose can definately see the red light go on.

Several pictures show moose slowly walking towards camera and suddenly turn around in panic...running away and not coming back for months!

I would not recommend this product.

Getting moose to return to a specific spot on a regular basis is a challenge. If when they get there, the camera scares them away, then the camera is working against you.

Brilliant results, BUT you need to use top quality batteries, otherwise the camera wont work at night. Also the software does not work with Mac, though the SD card will download, you wont be able to use the timelapse viewer.
