Really liked the characters and the clear relationships. The writing is solid though at times a bit repetitive. I liked the enjoyable conclusion.

An emotional journey towards forgiveness, redemption and happily ever afters! We're quickly drawn in as the story of Mia and Wyatt unfold. They've both experienced loss that they are still struggling with how to live with. Outside influences are at the top of their minds in getting settled into their new normal, but letting go and actually seeing the world around them again aids in both of their healing. The characters are intriguing and keep us wanting to know more. The story line is a bit distracting, yet satisfying in it's own way. Overall, a heart tugging story with a twist that is very enjoyable!

When she walked away from their short time together, Dr. Wyatt Reid never expected to see Mia Fiore again, yet here she is two years later being rushed into his ER. She's bound and determined to rush her recovery after a diving accident and get right back out there making films and risking her life to do it, but life has another plan for her and intends to make her slow down and weigh what she really wants going forward.

Wyatt has issues of his own he's still trying to bury his head in the sand about, but he can't make himself go off and forget he ever saw Mia again. There's a connection there that can't quickly be pushed aside while she's in his space. Will she be able to help him find the peace he so desperately needs?

The Doctor’s Recovery is a sweet and inspiring second chance romance between two people who are both letting past pain drive their current focus – in the opposite direction from each other. So you know there are some intense emotions at play … which, I might add, makes for some delicious romantic tension and one heck of a first-again-kiss.

I really enjoyed getting to know Mia – her documentary film career fascinates me, though I’d never be brave enough to do the same. There are a lot of layers to her character, like Wyatt’s, that are revealed as the story progresses. Both are struggling with deep loss that has shaped their life paths and gives them blinders to what their hearts are really wanting, including each other. This dimension to their stories makes this more than just a ‘missed-chance’ at love because of a misunderstanding – it adds substance to their earlier separation and their potential for a second chance.

Bottom Line: A great cast of intriguing secondary characters provides delightful support (and lighter moments) to the two multilayered protagonists and their relationship. Both Wyatt and Mia are easy to like and easy to cheer for, and Wyatt is swoonily romantic when it counts. I love how the title factors into the book and the subtle ways that it takes on meaning throughout. A heart-tugging and inspiring read!

Cari Lynn Webb is a new-to-me author and I can honestly say that I will be reading more of her books. The Doctor's Recovery was a well-written, thought provoking, emotion driven story with flawed characters and a realistic feel. Dr. Wyatt Reid had one kiss with Mia Fiore two years ago but the memory lingered and now they are in each other's orbit again but with a lot of issues to overcome for a relationship to work. Wyatt is struggling with guilt over losing his brother and his mother's current health issues where he wants to put her in assisted living so he can go back to Africa and his job. Mia survived a near fatal diving accident trying to finish filming on her father's final documentary and is now struggling with guilt for a broken promise. Mia and Wyatt's relationship is at times contentious and at times fun. This story will have you entertained until the very end.

Mia is filming a documentary and gets in an scuba diving accident. Wyatt is an Emergency Room doctor who Mia had a romantic moment with in Africa two years prior. This is a heartfelt and well written story. This story had me hooked from the first chapter. I enjoyed reading about these two characters Wyatt and Mia

These main characters…oh my! They were too similar for their own good. At first it might have seemed that they were opposites, however they both struggled with misplaced guilt and both were extremely stubborn!

I liked both of these characters, even though they each made decisions at times that I didn’t agree with. They clearly belonged together, however, so much from the past and ideas about what the future should look like kept them in a limbo that was hard to escape from.

This story had lots and lots of great side characters in it and I enjoyed getting to know about all of them too. I enjoyed this contemporary romance.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
