USDA Organic is protected by law, inspected by experts, traced from farm to store, and shaped by public input. USDA develops and enforces the organic standards, which require products to be produced using farming practices that maintain and improve soil and water quality, minimize the use of synthetic materials, conserve biodiversity, and avoid genetic engineering, among other factors. Crops can be certified organic if they’re grown without prohibited substances such as most synthetic fertilizers and pesticides for three years prior to harvest. Livestock are raised on pasture and treated humanely without growth hormones or antibiotics. Organic products do not contain GMOs or artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Products that contain a minimum of 95 percent organic ingredients and use the USDA Organic seal are part of Climate Pledge Friendly.

Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I purchased this orris root to make a homemade perfume. I'd purchased orris root on Amazon before, but it wasn't nearly as fragrant as this orris root from Starwest. I actually have ordered a few Starwest herbs and all are fantastic. This orris smells like a woody violet. It's quite a beautiful scent. I soak the root in grain alcohol for 6-8 weeks to extract the scent. I purchased mine from the seller ZenHabitat. The orris root was extremely fragrant, which means it's been properly aged, and when I had a question the seller responded quickly and was very nice.
I’ve never used orris root before so I don’t have a comparison. I made sachets with the 12 herbs of Winter Soltice, the orris root added a really nice earthy scent. It’s pricey, but I’m glad it spent the money. I would buy again.
I have purchased orris root from other sources that exudes good aroma when you open the bag. This does not have any of that if it is way to mild. Can not use for anything.
