I got this to add to my nutrition on low carb diet. This has a really good flavor, almost like a cheesy bouillon flavor. It really adds a great flavor to food. I don’t eat much salad dressing because the sugars and carbs etc. but this will make a really good replacement I discovered. Just add the 2 tablespoons or more and addd some water to make a dressing for salad.

Though it does take a bit of acquiring a taste for it… These nutritional yeast flakes are fantastic! The contents are dry and consistent. The flavor is a little strong for me personally however I just use a little less.

Delicious on salads, use it mixed in The flour if you're going to make fried chicken or country fried steak or fried shrimp or even fried vegetables … Just as delicious sprinkled on steamed vegetables or after you iron skillet a pan seared steak… Mix it in if you're gonna make garlic buffalo wings, etc.

"Smells like crotch"

OMG - My wife was standing next to me when I opened this packet. Keep in mind that this is the first time either of us tried nutritional yeast. So I opened the packet and took a sniff, made a face, and then we both said pretty much the same thing:

- Me: "It smells like crotch!!!"

- Her: "It smells like [something I can't say here]!!!"

The reason I bought this is to try making better tofu. I found a bunch of popular tofu recipes and one of the common ingredients (besides tofu) was this smelly ingredient. I was tempted to throw it out and call it a loss, but I decided to use it anyway for the sake of science.

The tofu was amazing and didn't taste anything like the way it smelled. After mixing it with the other ingredients, tossing in the tofu, and baking it at 400° for a half hour the result tasted absolutely amazing.

We were on a call with our daughter the next night and somehow the topic of this [yuck] powder came up and my wife told our daughter all about it. Our daughter is a doctor and an elite athlete (ultra-marathoner) and she raved to us about the health benefits of nutritional yeast. She told us to find more uses for it and keep consuming it.

The funny thing is that we're both meat-and-taters (and salad) people and tofu isn't really in our wheelhouse. We were just trying it out of solidarity with some friends of ours who decided to go vegan and we wanted to experiment with a few things that we could cook for them. But then we realized that we only spent about five bucks on our meal of baked tofu cubes and butternut squash, which really appealed to our cheap side too.

So it's a win for us. We're definitely going to keep adding this to our meals when we can, regardless of the initial disgusting scent.
