The perfect all round zoom lens.
You can't go wrong with this lens. The results are excellent and so is the price.

This is a good lens for Sony, I use it on a6000. The only issus is that the autifoucs is a little slow especially under low light. Other than that a very decent for its price. I had some issues with the order but they were able to resolve it.

FX30とZV-E10で使っています
Reviewed in Japan on November 19, 2023Verified Purchase

Really nice, but a bit slow.
Reviewed in the United States on February 14, 2016Verified Purchase
Nice lens. Beautifully constructed, a bit large, but not freakishly so on the A6000. Love the internal focus AND internal zoom. Makes you feel like you're shooting some high class glass. Fairly sharp pics, maybe not quite as sharp as the Zeiss alternative, I hear, but sharp enough. It has pretty creamy bokeh for an F4, as well. The lens definitely has that "certain something" that's hard to nail down, but separates a favorite lens from the one you leave in the bag.
You'll hear about this lens's terrible distortion, but you'll never see it if you shoot jpeg or use Lightroom, because both have this lens's distortion profile. Maybe a little disappointing, but unlikely to affect most people.
This lens really has only one downfall: It's F4. It's kind of disappointing to be paying $5-700 for a zoom that only goes to F4. If you don't shoot much indoors, you'll never see this as a problem, but most of us do, and I've found it degrades the pictures, forcing me to either shoot a stop or two slower, or use higher ISO. Olympus, Panasonic, and Nikon all have nice F2.8 zooms on the market, why doesn't Sony? I'm sure Canon probably does as well. Unfortunately, low-light shooters using Sony are kind of forced to use primes, or live with blurry/grainy shots.
Despite these downsides, I found myself taking a great liking to the lens. For me, the lens was too slow, but I did love every other aspect of it, and it was with regret that I sent it back. No doubt, for someone that lives somewhere bright and sunny, this lens is perfect.

A great lens for nearly any situation
Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2015Verified Purchase
I am not a professional photographer and barely even an enthusiast, I have been trying to learn more about my camera and what it takes to get the best results possible. I bought this lens to go with my Sony a6000 for several reasons.
1. The constant F.4 throughout the entire range was something that really interested me, since my daughter started taking gymnastics I wanted a longer reach than the stock 16-55mm lens while being able to allow more light into the sensor at the furthest distance (the lighting in the gym is not the best).
2. Having a lens to provide me with a fairly wide angle to near telephoto in one package, especially with trying to use it to take pictures of a three year old, is great. I can't ask my daughter to wait while I switch lenses to a different range.
3. The OSS and power zoom combo create some great results for video, which was the reason I left my Nikon D3000 behind and went with the Sony a6000 in the first place.
4. The overall weight and size of the camera and lens is about the same size as the 16-50mm lens and camera combination of my old Nikon D3000, but this package is much more versatile and the results so far have been astonishing.
5. The depth of field with the pictures so far has been a surprise to me, the results I have been getting with this lens are much more ascetically pleasing than the same kinds of pictures I had been taking with the stock lens.
Even though I gave this product a five star rating, there are a couple negatives to this lens.
1. The power zoom is not as fast as a manual zoom, but this really hasn't affected me yet, I have messed with the speed settings and I'm happy with the speed of the system.
2. The size of the lens and camera change the whole paradigm of the a6000 with the 16-55mm lens from a partially pocketable camera that might be mistaken for a point and shoot to a obviously prosumer level interchangeable lens camera. While the whole package is still fairly compact, it's just not as portable any more.
3. The pop-up flash is blocked by the end of the lens, but really I did't buy this lens to use the pop-up flash with, I bought this lens because I don't want to need to use the flash to get great results and so far in low light situations this lens has really been singing.
I really spent a long time trying to decide what lens I wanted to go with the Sony a6000, my wife really liked the look and feel of the stock lens, because it was small and compact. I wanted a lens to give great results in any situation, and the SELP18105G really delivers. I highly recommend this lens for any one out there trying to learn a little bit more about how to capture great pictures. Now I just really need more practice.
