I can only speak for myself but I don't notice any smell or taste of chemicals.

These cups are every bit a good as the name brand. (You know, the one Toby Keith sings about) They a plenty big enough and have a good price. They aren't flimsy like some other (usually clear) plastic cups are. I've never had one break while getting ice from my ice maker (which has been a problem with some others). The cups work just as well for my family as the red solo cups, but they were cheaper and had more in them. They have held up great and the only complaint I truly have was that each set up cups wrapped together had at least a few ups stuck together so badly they I almost ruined the cups trying to separate them. I am not sure if this is a manufacturer problem or what, but I just advice of you get these to be prepared for that. They will separate, just takes some carefulness while doing so.
