Unboxing the AeroPress, I was immediately impressed by its compact design. The tote bag that came with it is not only stylish but also incredibly functional, making it easy to carry the AeroPress on trips or even to the office.
The brewing process itself is a joy. The chamber and plunger design allow for a quick and efficient extraction, resulting in a cup that's rich in flavor and aroma. Whether I'm in the mood for a smooth coffee or a robust espresso, the AeroPress delivers consistently. The flexibility in brewing styles is genuinely remarkable, allowing me to customize my brew strength and flavor profile.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the inclusion of filters. They ensure that each cup is smooth and sediment-free, enhancing the overall drinking experience. And the best part? The cleanup is a breeze. A simple rinse, and the AeroPress is ready for its next brew.
But beyond the product itself, what truly stands out is the experience it offers. Brewing with the AeroPress feels like a ritual, a few minutes where I can immerse myself in the art of coffee-making. The tactile nature of the process, from grinding the beans to pressing the plunger, is meditative and satisfying.
In conclusion, the AeroPress Original Coffee and Espresso Maker is more than just a brewing device; it's a journey into the heart of coffee. It offers a blend of simplicity, versatility, and portability that's hard to find in other coffee makers. Whether you're a seasoned barista or someone just starting their coffee journey, the AeroPress promises a cup that's brewed to perfection. It's a celebration of the rich and diverse world of coffee, all packed into a compact and stylish design. Dive into a brewing experience that's as delightful as the coffee it produces!
My work provides free coffee, which I appreciate, but as of late I just have not been able to tolerate it. Bitter, metallic, burnt tasting with no real caffeine zing. I’ve vocalized my discontent to my colleagues and to follow my own advice, “if you don’t like something, then do something about it!”
I currently have a Keurig machine at home which makes OK coffee, it is convenient and will do for a quick cup early in the morning. I have also had a French Press which I used for approximately 5 years while living abroad. I like dark/strong coffee, but I think it’s a bit too strong (oily) and loaded with sediment. The wife was not a fan either. I’ve also tried the newer freeze-dried sachets from Starbucks or Folgers, meh, not too impressed with those and they were relatively expensive ($0.50 – 1.00/cup).
What I was looking for, ability to make an espresso or espresso-like product that I can partially dilute with milk or cream to make a cappuccino or latte like drink without having to spend $1000 on a fancy espresso machine. I don’t really care about the foam on the milk, just a good tasting end product.
After a bit of research, I was willing to try the Aerobie AeroPress system. It looked to be slightly complicated to use at work, but not too coffee geeky that I would get ridiculed. I picked up a bag of beans at a local small business coffee shop and had them grind half of them. (They even comped my espresso because I bought a bag of beans, I don’t think the major chains would do something like that!) I received my AeroPress within 24 hours of ordering (thanks Amazon Prime!) and gave it a test run on a Saturday morning at home I read the instructions through a few times and gave it a shot. Holy smokes! The actual first cup I made was as good as a Starbucks latte. I was amazed, smooth, strong coffee with good flavor and no bitterness or over acidity. The whole system was a bit funky to use, but I’m sure I’ll get into a rhythm. The plunger is a bit tough to push down, but nothing too difficult. You really do have to pay attention to pressure and technique when pressing; I could see if you were not paying attention and the whole thing slipped, there would be coffee everywhere including all over yourself. Clean-up is pretty quick and I really like the ‘puck’ of grinds that come out vs a french press. That was one drawback of having a french press, you have to dig out the grounds and if you don’t have a garbage disposal when you rinse it out, you may clog up your (or your work) sink pipes.
All in all after a couple days of use, I am very happy with this purchase. I am also happy that it will double as my camping coffee maker too. I followed the instructions pretty closely with regards to temp, times and volumes, but after a few tries you can get the hang of it without the need for thermometers and weights/measures (although I’m sure these will keep the quality very high and consistent).
In a nutshell, great product, looks pretty sturdy and relatively easy to use. I would recommend for those willing to put a little extra effort to achieve a great (consistent) cup of coffee.
Top reviews from other countries
I bring it to work, on trail. It doesn't matter. I recommend this to anyone who wants a portable single cup option.
The cleanup is my favorite part. So simple and quick, I'm not afraid to make a second cup if I feel like it.
