俳優スティーブ・マーチンが、エディ・ブリッケルとコラボしたカントリー・フォーク作。バンジョー・プレイヤーであるマーチンは既に何枚か良質なアルバムをリリースしており、その音楽センスは照明済み。そこに、エディ・ブリッケルの天使のようなヴォーカルをミックスすると、極上のフォーク・アルバムになりました！なお、一見歴史ある写真っぽいジャケですが、前衛アーティストさんが書いた画なんだそうです。パッケージ含め、全体が作品であることを理解させてくれる良盤です。

俳優の他に脚本家、小説家、プロデューサーもこなす傍ら、優れた
バンジョー奏者としても知られる。

そんな彼がかつてEdie Brickell And New Bohemians名義でWhat I Am
のヒットを飛ばした、Paul Simonの3人目の妻であるEdie Brickellと
組んで制作したアルバム。

全楽曲を2人で共作しており、プロデューサーはFall Out Boyの最新作を
手がけるなど現役バリバリのPeter Asherで、人気セッションギタリストの
Waddy Wachtelも参加している。

内容の方は徹頭徹尾バンジョーが軽快にかき鳴らされる
トラディッショナルなブルーグラスで、このジャンルが
好きな方には好感を持って迎えられそうな内容。

Wonderful songwriting by the prolific Brickell- (The Gaddabouts, and Look Out Now!) Martin reveals a fine sense of musical creative direction. Peter Asher ( James Taylor, Linda Ronstadt) is an old favorite as is Waddy Wachtel. Great to hear Nickel Creek's Sara and Sean Watkins work in this project. Including the incredible Esperanza Spalding on King Of Boys was an inspired personnel choice.
A new musical production like this brings some fresh sounds to the world of music. Congratulations to Steve, Edie and all involved with this project.

Terrific CD. A new slant on blue grass with a dash of country I suppose. Edie Brickell is superb as usual and I find that Steve Martin
is not just a very talented comedy actor but also a composer of ability.
I can highly recommend this CD, it is one of the few I have that I am not tempted to skip over certain tracks.

Klar und rein wie ein plätschernder Gebirgsbach das Banjo, Natur pur Edie Brickells fröhliche Stimme ... und dann die Band: sich einmischend, mal wild und kraftvoll, dann wieder mild wie eine leichte Sommerbrise am frühen Morgen, bis hin zur beinahe Stille durch fein im Hintergrund gesponnene Klänge.

Ein kleines akustisches Kunstwerk liegt hier vor, das uns mit seiner Genügsamkeit in längst vergangene Tage zurückversetzt, in die Zeit, als die Bilder im Fernsehen noch schwarz-weiß waren und Hula-Hoop gefragt war wie heute Smartphones.

Dass wir Love Has Come For You als schlicht empfinden, liegt an der exzellenten Produktion von Peter Asher (auch James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt, Cher, Diana Ross, Randy Newman und viele mehr), der die Vielstimmigkeit der zahlreichen begleitenden Musiker geschickt auf kleiner Flamme köcheln läßt, um sie kurzzeitig effektvoll aufdrehen zu können. Steve Martins Banjospiel und Edie Brickells Stimme bleiben dabei stets im Vordergrund.

Einfach und schlicht, nackt wie die Musik, sind auch die Lyrics von Edie Brickell, deren Opener ein Schlucken verursacht, vielleicht, weil hier in der Phase der Trennung eine aus einer gewachsenen Freundschaft unaussprechliche Sanftheit im Einklang steht mit diesem Loslassen.

Conosco molto bene le canzoni di Edie Brickell, sempre molto belle. Questo disco è molto particolare, per via della musica ottenuta con il bengio. Le prime volte che lo si ascolta sembra piuttosto monotono, ma poi si inizia ad apprezzarlo in tutte le sue sfumature. La voce di Edie, davvero straordinaria, si "amalgama" perfettamente con la musica, come sempre. I testi delle canzoni sono bellissimi: ti penetrano dentro e smuovono i tuoi sentimenti più profondi.
In ogni caso, credo che sia un album molto particolare, forse troppo, quindi non credo sia l'album che meglio rappresenta la discografia di Edie Brickell.
