They're Alright, but They Could be Better
A little while ago I bought myself a Gameboy Advance SP to play some older games on. Everything was fine and dandy until I realized that the Gameboy Advance SP didn't have a headphone jack. Now I'm a pretty quiet person and I like to make as little noise as possible, especially when playing video games, so I decided to look for a headphone adapter. I stumbled on Exlene's earphone adapters for the Gameboy Advance SP, and seeing the positive review here I decided to give it a shot.I was originally going to give this product a 3 star review because of some technical problems, but once I tried to showcase them through a video they seemed to disappear. Whenever I first got the Exlene adapters they were a bit... wonky... In order to get the audio to play correctly, I had to jostle the adapter chord in order to get it to work. It was like playing with some old, beat up Apple headphones that only work if you hold them a certain way, but instead of hearing no audio you only hear a specific audio channel, which is very weird and jarring. Like I said, this problem seemed to disappear whenever I tried to showcase it, so hopefully it's not too big of an issue in the future. What is a slight issue though is a bit of auditory noise whenever you're using the adapter. Whenever I use this thing I hear a low static noise while playing games. It's not too distracting, but it's definitely noticeable. I would take a video of it but you can't hear the static unless if you're wearing headphones, so you'll have to take my word for it.I guess some other things that are worth noting about the Exlene adapter is its size. It sticks out of the SP a bit–and yes, it does use the charging port, so you can't charge your system and use the adapter at the same time–but I don't really find this to be a problem. That being said however, if you're not a huge fan of cables sticking out of your gaming systems or if you're a hardcore gamer then this might not be the product for you.Overall, the Exlene adapters work! They have a few issues, some bigger and weirder than others, but they aren't anything to really return them over. If you think you can put up with a few of the issues I've listed, then this product might be for you! If not, then I probably suggest you look elsewhere.
