My wife's old roller was shot and I surprised her with this for christmas ( actually the day before so she could use it for the family gathering at my brothers house) She immediately made 3 from scratch apple pies with it and she absolutely LOVES it. Smooth rolling, easy to clean and rather high quality I must say. Faberware over the years has been hit or miss for us, but this one is definitely a winner.

I had trouble holding and using the "classic" style rolling pins due to a medical condition. The 'French" style is much easier for me to use. I can really work with this style so much better! It’s decent but wood has pitting

The shape and usability are fine, but the wood has some significant pitting in many spots and was somewhat rough on the ends I outlined the worst in the picture.

I also had some slivers peel off.
I treated it with butchers block oil which helped with the roughness and the slivers.

I don’t really see a solution to the pitting other than sanding it down but I suspect that could also cause some problems.
