Guys let me share my experience with Asus!
I was having troubles because my ISP gave me a cheaper router option so for a whole year I was limited to my speed max to 50mbs in a 100Mbs plan. So I was wasting half of the speed due to the router.
Recently I purchased the Asus model AC1500 RT-AC59U and everything changed at home.
I now have a constant speed of 90-95mbs Up and down speed in our 4LDK house having good signal at the furthest places from the router. Would be excellent if I can locate the router in a central location at home but I'm not able due to the NTT pre installed access.
Despite the speed factor, Asus also provide a whole bunch of tools in the router that improved my daily use. The airadar option maximize the wife signals and the MUMiMO support provide an equal and good speed to Evey device at home.
Did I mention ASUS support VPN? Well that's the more important factor I choose this router, now I'm able to use OpenVPN LT2P or PPTP clients to protect my data and unlock content from other regions. Also I can create a local server to use VPN from outside home.
All in all this is the best option without breaking the bank account for me. I hope this help you to choose for your own purchase.
The only downside is that the interface is totally in Japanese and it doesn't support English natively but you can use Google Chrome to translate it to any language you wish.
Also the router accept configuration by phone (Android or IOS) using the Asus router Application. But if you need to do more specific changes on the settings you will have to access thru the web browser.

I'll update this review to break down every pro and cons in the next few months.

Update August 2020:
Glad to report that this router received a huge discount from 6K to 3k and that's not the best part because this month update firmware version brings us the native English support for the router. That's right, no need to use google to translate now the settings itself give us the option to choose between japanese and english. Again a bargain for a great router.

Asusのルーターは、国産メーカーのルーターと違って変に奇をてらわない設計で、安定動作がいいですね。
有線側は、キッチリ1Gbps出ますし、WiFiも同じ部屋なら公証通りの速度が出ます。

アンテナ4本ついてるわりに、電波の飛びはやや悪めですが、通信速度の大幅低下はありません。
アンテナマークが一本欠ける程度でしたら、十分作業可能です。

◆楽天ひかりではipv6使用不可
楽天ひかりのipv6は特殊な方式で、対応していません

I only bought it so I could install VPN software to watch American Netflix, Hulu, Peacock and the 2020 Olympics and other streaming services and this router let me do it. Installation was easy, we live in a 4LDK and that signal is strong and consistent. 5G speeds are amazing and the router software makes setting up additional devices, such as a USB hard drive or printer very easy. I have had ZERO problems with this router and it’s always up. I’m buying another one for my office.

Wi-Fiがしばしば動作不良になるようになり、使用を断念。
（電源再起動で使えるようにはなりますが、
２・３時間使うと、全てのデバイスでWi-Fiが受信不能になります。）
実質、2年３ヶ月半の寿命でした。
（まだ、分かりやすい不具合で良かったです。）

（以下2021年2月記）
タイトル通り、楽天WiFi PocketのUSB接続がやりたくて購入です。

[詳しい経緯]
最初にテストとして、楽天SIM＆SH-M08からUSBテザリングで接続できることを確認しました。
（ルーターの管理画面で USB モードに切り替えは当然行いました。）
　　（「USBアプリケーション」の「3G/4G」の「WAN タイプ」の指定です。）

（素直に、次は楽天Wi-Fi Pocket に変更すればよかったのですが、余計なことをしました。）
次に、２回線目契約の別楽天SIM＆別スマホの組み合わせで、USBテザリングに挑戦すると、
接続できませんでした。

ルーターの管理画面を開き設定を確認すると、
「ネットワークマップ」のマップ画像が「USBが認識されていない状態」に見えました。
そこで、
「クイックインターネットセットアップ」を選択し「②ネットワークの設定」を実行し、
「③ルーターの設定」で「適用」をクリックしたところ、実行されましたが
いつまで待っても終わらなかったので　
管理画面を強制終了し、ルーター電源ｏｆｆで５分ほど放置後起動した結果、２回線目も接続できました。

その後、１回線目のSIM＆楽天Wi-Fi Pocketの組み合わせに変えて、USBで本機に接続で何の問題もなく使用できました。（もちろん、PCのWiFi接続先は　Wi-Fi Pocket --> 本機に変更）

評価を低くしているのは、２時間程度しか使ってないので、評価が固まっていないからです。

以前使っていたWi-Fiルーターがそろそろ寿命みたいなので、
ちょっと安くなっていたこれを購入。

いざ設定と意気込んで設定画面を開けましたが、
あっけなく設定は完了し、すぐにリプレイスすることができました。

安価なタイプなのでマニュアルは簡単になっていますので、
細かい設定についてのガイドなどはありませんが、
そこそこ機能は付いています。
これから設定してみようと思いますが、VPNの機能も付いているようです。

うちは結構な数使っていますが、いまのところ安定して使えています。
家は3LDKマンションですが、すべての部屋で安定して使えています。

I have been using the router for 2 weeks now. Bought it after a lot of research on dual band routers.
I initially was contemplating the TP-LINK AC1900 Archer A9 since it was almost 1k less than the ASUS RT59U and it also was offering me more bandwidth offering compared to the ASUS RT59U (1900 v/s 1500), but then somehow I couldn't rely on TP LINK as I had a mixed experience with the earlier TP LINK products & hence I wasnt very convinced even if it was more bang for bucks & forums have been posting raving reviews about the same.

ASUS has been known for the robust devices including the routers & the build quality speaks for itself. Here is my review after 2 weeks of usage.

Pros:
1. Superb built quality
2. Is super compact & light
3. The lights on the router aren't too loud & are non-distracting
4. Super Easy setup
5. INTERNET SPEED: My internet speed improved by 30-35% & most importantly I get stable signals unlike my previous TP Link router
6. SIGNAL COVERAGE: Decent 5Ghz signal coverage in my 3BHK (I get signals in all room- atleast 1 bar signal in the room that's farthest from the router); Well, I don't think I need to mention about the 2Ghz signal- I rarely use it now after getting used to the 5Ghz speeds.
7. Haven't yet used the USB, but I am confident, it wont disappoint
8. Excellent Admin controls & dashboard

Cons:
1. Pricey

Having said this, I don't regret spending more on the router. One of the best dual band routers out there in 6k.

Liked th Brand. Built quality was good and setup was easy. I see slowness and signal strength not good day by day. I am writing this review after 15 days of use. 5ghz gives the full speed. But the coverage is very much restricted. And 2.4ghz signL strength is good. Signal strength good across walls and doors. Some times speed not good. I have no reason why the speed slow. I do a restart. Connected more than 11 devices and I see no issues. 5 ghz have restriction of mac address filter for the number of devices. Mobile app is good to see real time traffic reboot and other operations. Over all a good buy.

Immediately I could notice the difference in stability of the connection and the improved range as I changed this from a Tenda AC1200 and a TPlink Archer C60. This thing is much better than any of those Chinese counter parts and you will definitely not regret the difference in premium that you pay. The WiFi range is really strong (provided you orient the antenna's in the proper position. DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT NOT GETTING FULL SPEED IF YOU SET YOUR ROUTER ANTENNAES LIKE A SPIDER OR OPEN IT UP LIKE A FLOWER. Look up on the shooting plane and orientation of a 5dBi antenna and set it accordingly if you want good results. It matters a lot.) and signal drops are virtually none. The 5dbi antenna's easily shoot the signal past concrete walls with ease and there is no connection trouble whatsoever even with 3+ concrete walls in the way. No more drops or buffering when I stream FHD content to my chromecast.

The router app and interface is handsdown the better ones out of both two and it surprisingly also provides dual WAN, Router VPN support and enterprise version of WPA2 security (only normally seen in expensive routers). CPU stays relatively idle in heavy loads and doesnt break a sweat even with multiple devices connected on WAN and LAN, but do note that running the router internal provided VPN can keep the router cpu a bit busy (note: router vpn not the software vpn that you use in windows)

Again for an average individual, the range and stability it offers is much better than that of chinese vendors and do note that ASUS routers are known for having a bit more robust security as compared to chinese router vendors like TP-Link, Tenda, Mi or so.

Its a bit more expensive agreed, but its worth it.

Good router to take care of 1900sft area

Verdict there are a good number of advanced features on this router. Read reviews that say the router doesn’t need frequent restarts as it has a good number of CPU / RAM inside. I have my router placed in the front room of a 1945 sqft house and its broadcasting (5g signal) quite good for all the rooms. Place where I used to get 15/20mbps with my netgearN300 which was a single band router I get 94mbps constant with this router.

More info / rationale for selection:Fantastic !! After a quick setup, which was pretty easy the router starts showing its magic. I was skeptical to spend 2 / 3 times the price of a normal router, but trust me if you are spending money for a good internet connection (>50 Mbps) then a good router to deliver that speeds are also quite required.
I was using Netgear N300 which works perfectly fine but there is a limitation for single-band routers. Though they are advertised to give 300mbps or 100mbps due to interference and single-band transmission it won't go beyond 50mbps i.e., if you are getting a 100mbps connection and having a single band router you are easily not using around 30-40mbps bandwidth (which you are paying but not using). A proper dual-band router will give you a proper signal and good speeds consistently.

Points to note: this doesn’t transmit 1gbps on WIFI ever(on 5g) so if you are planning to update your internet to >1gbps think about Netgear nighthawk or a different Asus series.

Stopped Working within a year

IT had its issues but they were not that much.
Now it has not been even a year and it has stopped working. Just boots and then no network connection. Can't connect via lan cable and also no wifi network.
Can't even reset the router. Took me over an hour to finally reset the router.

Looks like some serious bug in the firmware where it never really turns on completely and gets stuck in the middle way. Which leads to reset button not working as well. I have tried updating to latest firmwre and multiple reset.

Now Wi-Fi and LAN speed drops after a day or two and reboot is the only solution to get the speed back.
But if I reboot then I land into the above situation where I can spend the whole day trying to get it to work. If I am lucky then it reboots fine.

Big mistake purchasing this router. All this time I have been thinking that my ISP was not giving be consistent speeds. But it now feels like it has been this router issue all along.
