Things I’ve seen in other reviews: hard to put up alone/issues with the set screw while installing... they have either changed something or those reviewers didn’t read the instructions. This tension rod has 2 types of adjustability, a set screw on each bar for a strong hold close to the correct size of the opening and twist on both bars for Fine adjustment. You want to build the whole assembly on the floor, tighten the twist adjustment on each bar so it is at its smallest setting, measure the opening, set the assembly so it is a smidge smaller than the opening, put in set screws to about 75%, lift into place and twist the bars to widen until sturdy, then finish screwing in the set screws until they are flush with the rod. With both methods of adjustability this is a a very strong bar.
End caps loose/noisy... yes the end caps only click on with two points of contact so they do juggle a bit. Once I got this up it was unnoticeable and does not make noise when I open and close the shower. In both showers I have installed it in there is a slight ledge that I used as a guide to place the bar and just resting the assembly on that stopped the noise. Stuffing it full of foam as others have suggested would also work... I’m not sure how this would be fixed except by 4 points of connection which would probably make it really difficult to get in and off the ends.

The reason I'm only giving it 4 stars is because one of the tightening screws wouldn't screw in all the way and when I tried to remove it to use one of the spares, it stripped the outside of the screw and the allen wrench wouldn't turn it tighter or looser. It is still holding, but is slightly jiggly. Not worth returning, but worth mentioning. If you're having an issue getting a tightening screw to be flush with the bar, remove it and try another one.
I read a review about not trusting this rod to hold the weight of damp towels, and this seems like it would handle at least a few. They're problem may have come from a subpar install. I used the tension install instead of mounting it. I stood on the edge of the tub and pushed both bases into the wall, keeping them as flush and level as possible.(picture 1) My wife then tightened the screw in and turned the tension part of the rods. I use it to hang dry clothes that pile if I put them in the dryer. There's a little less than 10 pounds of wet clothes in the picture but Im sure it can handle a bit more.
Also, move the curtain out from under any towel you hang to avoid any mildew smells on both fabrics.

The critical issue is mostly with the instructions and to a lesser part, design. In the instructions, the rod 'locking/set' screws are small items that thread directly into the outer aluminum tubing, and it's clearly noted, twice (instructions and sticker), to tighten until 'flush' with the tube - MAJOR fail here. The aluminum tubing is pretty thin (~1-2mm at best) so the threads will strip if you try and tighten the screws 'flush.' This is critical as this is a tension system and if the rod setting screws aren't secure, you can't apply tension. You can make this work if you tighten the set screws, enough to be tight, but stopping there before stripping the threads. I managed to keep one set screw tight enough, but the other side, definitely stripped (both aren't anywhere near flush - 1-2mm exposed), but was able to manage to tighten it enough to attain decent tension.
This will fail eventually, especially being a double rod design, and you'll likely place wet towels on them - and most likely, will need to drill a small hole in the inner rod and find a longer, metal screw to set the rods.
