I got this July 2016 so it's been over 6 years so far. I use this thing pretty regularly. I homeschool, run my own business, and volunteer as a scout leader and a few other things and use this at least once a month. I've also dropped it countless times, and it's been through a few moves where the packers just toss crap in a box and wish for the best. I was making flash cards this morning and realized that it's just now heating unevenly and every other sheet has these tiny air bubbles. If I have to guess, I have probably laminated over 2,000 sheets. I think it's great that it's lasted this long with being used so frequently and I probably have a few more months or a year left before I need to replace it. For now I'm just going to run things through a second time until it kicks the bucket. Long story short, I highly recommend this machine and if you aren't super crazy like me, it will last you well over 6 years!
