Dopo averlo acceso verifico subito eventuali problemi di pixel bruciati e back light bending, tutto ok.

After reading many reviews that were mentioning IPS Glow, Backlight Bleed, Ghosting, Artifacts, and things of that nature, I was a bit concerned. I can deal with IPS Glow and Backlight Bleed, however ghosting would be a firm no purchase for me. Coming from a 1ms TN monitor, I was also worried that moving to a slower 4ms response time would introduce ghosting. Even though I was quite worried about upgrading, I decided to buy the monitor anyway.
To make a long story short, this monitor is purely outstanding in every possible way.
My worries about ghosting, artifacts, IPS Glow, IPS Bleed, and Dead Pixels were squashed and nonexistent. The model I received had no issues with Bleed or Glow. Even on 100% brightness, the Glow and Bleed simply didn't exist like some of the photos show here on Amazon. Maybe I got lucky, but I consider this a huge success.
As for Dead Pixels and Artifacts, there were no dead pixels or artifacts whenever I ran multiple tests through the monitor.
- IPS Glow? No issues
- IPS Backlight Bleeding? No issues
- Ghosting? No issues
- Color Banding? No Issues
- Flickering? No issues
None of the issues were present at the monitor's standard refresh rate of 144hz, or when overclocked to 165hz.
The colors of this monitor are fantastic, the viewing angles are fantastic, and the ghosting is not an issue with this monitor.
The difference between a 1080 60hz monitor and a 1440p 144hz/165hz monitor is incredible. Gaming at 1440p, the picture quality is sharp and colorful. For instance, in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V, I find myself easily seeing enemies across the map that I otherwise wouldn't have been able to see with my 1080p monitor. Everything is so sharp and you can see so far, that it helps you play better. Now this monitor isn't going to make you aim better or be a better player, but the extra clarity of the 1440p resolution is a huge difference.
Coming from a 60hz monitor, the 144hz monitor also provides a smoothness and clarity that is definitely noticeable instantly, more so than the resolution jump. I find that huge jump in refresh rate helps me track enemy movement and maintain a direct continuous view without the enemy being easily lost. I used to find that on my 60hz panel, I would have trouble focusing on the enemy since they sort of got lost in the echo during a battle, but 144hz has fixed that issue as it tightens up and clarifies my view.
G-sync is fantastic and brilliant. This is not a G-sync compatible monitor which contains no G-sync module, this is a real G-sync monitor that contains a hardware module and is an official G-sync monitor that is validated by Nvidia. Since this is a G-sync Module monitor, you will not get screen tearing if your FPS hovers within the 1-144fps range. If overclocked to 165hz, you will then get G-sync coverage up to 165hz too. G-sync is in my opinion, worth the price and I love it so much. No issues with G-sync, and it makes my games incredibly smooth and tear free, even at less than 60fps. I find it incredibly hard to game on any other monitor that isn't 1440p 144hz with G-sync.
As for the monitor itself, the black finish, while a standard in the industry, is still nice as always. The monitor also comes with a joystick on the back of the panel to control the settings menu, which is a godsend. I wish many more companies would include a joystick for quick and easy settings menu navigation as it gets painful hitting different buttons and trying to remember how to navigate the menus only to hit the wrong buttons every time.
Last but not least, while sort of a gimmick, inclusion of a crosshair/dot, and a stopwatch timer is a very neat idea I wish more monitors had as well. This monitor also has a built in FPS counter which is great as well. I use that all the time. Unfortunately you can't use more than 1 of these overlays at a time, but the addition of these overlays is quite an amazing feature that I feel it underrated. It just adds more bang for your buck and is actually implemented quite well.
Overall, this is the best monitor I have ever used and I do not regret spending $650 on this. Worth every penny I paid.
Absolutely stellar and flawless product
This particular monitor seemed to garner nearly universal praise and had the base feature set I wanted - an IPS panel, 120+Hz, 2K - so I threw caution to the wind and bought it. Boy am I glad I did. Physically (note I am referring to the panel, not including the bezel) it's actually almost the same size as my old 24inchers, maybe half a cm taller and a handful wider. Makes sense despite the 3" increase, we are also shifting from 16:10 to to 16:9 so it's a bit squatter and a bit wider aspect-wise. The panel itself is made by AU Optronics whom you've probably never heard of, but they do yeoman work in the ODM and embedded manufacturing space, and this panel is something that they should be proud of. The pixel density is sublime. At desktop viewing distances I honestly cannot see pixel edges on things like browsing, text reading, etc. We'll come to gaming in a bit. Whites are bright and crisp - too bright by default as monitors so often are but if you don't have your own colorometer/calibration tools googling will get you some good basic settings to start with that are better than OOB. There is a little bit of light-bleed at the edges but it's not terrible. The two bottom corners seem to suffer from that the worst. Worse than my 2410, but I'm nitpicking a bit - as one should for a $1K display. That said if you're in-game or anything full screen that isn't very dark or black you won't see it there.
Gaming has been a real pleasure on this new display. New machine specs are, in short and without mentioning exact brands: i7 8700, GTX1080ti and 16GB of 2400MHz DDR4. Since I have an nVidia card I have been able to take advantage of GSync, which is their propriety adaptive frame syncing technology to prevent screen tearing without the drawbacks of Vsync. The monitor comes by default set to 150Hz at its top end and requires you to go through its menus to up it to the full 165Hz which I haven't bothered doing as of yet I will admit. This machine is beefy enough that in many games not only can I max out whatever in-game settings there are, but I can also super-sample - i.e. the game will render at 4K and the videocard downscales it to the 2K native resolution of the display. Think of it like a very expensive form of anti-aliasing (although traditional AA tech is still used in conjunction). I wish I could show you what some of this stuff looks like. Ni No Kuni 2 looks like every frame was hand drawn just for me. Assassin's Creed Origins, I can virtually feel the desert heat coming through the screen. When you have this much power at your disposal having a monitor that can do it justice is without question a capital Must Have.
The only thing I can think of to ding this monitor for is the dearth of inputs. One DP and one HDMI and that's it (and token USB3 hub functionality). I've been spoiled by my Dell monitors having half a dozen inputs tucked away which came in handy when I used to run my PS3, Xbox and Wii all through the 2410 along with my PC.
I 100% recommend this monitor to anyone that wants a fantastic display to go with a high-end gaming rig for a tolerable price. If you've got the pockets you may want to consider Asus's similar displays that are larger, 4K and even curved but be warned the price jump up is steep.
Side Note: There is an Acer-branded monitor that has the exact same AU Optronics panel in it that costs a bit less at the cost of losing some features (IIRC it doesn't have the GSync hardware) so if you're on more of a budget google around a bit and I'm sure you'll find it. A worthy alternative.
Before I rave more about the display I just wanted to note that IPS is LG's brand name for the type of panel used in this display. Due to licensing costs surrounding the IPS name the company Asus is using for this panel (AU Optronics) calls their version of the technology VA. Samsung has their own called PLS. Essentially they all use the same manufacturing technique and result in the same type of panel.
With that out of the way lets get on to the panel itself. I've previously owned the PG278Q which is the TN version of this monitor released prior to this one. I found the TN display to be quite poor and promptly returned it. The IPS version however is completely different. This display has no visible pin-striping, no off-axes colour or contrast shift. It's absolutely a stunning display and a great example of AU Optronics VA panels.
The bezels surrounding the display are quite slim, not the slimmest I've ever seen on a 27" computer monitor but it's very close. The control system behind the monitor I do not like very much, it's cumbersome to get your hand back there if using the monitor in a tight space or you have another monitor to the side of this one.
Firing down at your desk you'll find two 2 watt speakers. These are the worst sounding speakers I've ever heard, period. Everything you hear through these sound like it's being shouted to you across an empty concert hall. It has a very echoey sound. If you're buying this monitor and think the speakers included will save you money, don't. They are essentially unusable.
But this monitor isn't about the bezels and the sound. It's about the gaming right? 165Hz and G-Sync are the reason you're looking at this monitor and if you've played about with the TN monitors perhaps you're looking at this specific model due to its VA (IPS equivalent) panel.
It's easy to recommend this monitor it just looks gorgeous. The colours are great, the brightness and contrast are great. The viewing angles are as good as I've seen on any IPS which is excellent. The high refresh rate is simply the biggest upgrade to gaming I've experienced since I got a high definition display over a decade ago. It's a drastically different experience that is hard to explain to people, once you experience it you will not want to game on anything else it's simple as that.
Complimenting the high refresh rate is the G-Sync technology which works quite seamlessly. Plug the monitor in and the NVIDIA control panel will popup a message telling you it has detected G-Sync panel and you can click on that message to adjust whether you want G-Sync active on only full-screened applications or full-screened and windowed applications.
The subtle power LED in the bottom right of the monitor (it actually hangs underneath slightly) goes from white to red when G-Sync is enabled which is a nice touch I think, lets me know it's working. The main point of G-Sync (which I'm sure you would have researched prior to reading reviews on Amazon for a monitor containing G-Sync) is that it syncs up the refresh rate of the monitor to your graphics cards frame output and thus eliminates tearing without the added input lag that V-Sync creates.
I have to admit that when you're gaming at 165Hz even if G-Sync were to be disabled or unavailable it's very hard to notice tearing because the refresh rate is simply so high. But that's not really what G-Sync is for. It's those low-refresh rates you experience especially when playing newer games that are more graphically demanding. Pushing a game like Ghost Recon: Wildlands for example on even a GTX 1080 Ti can leave you with only 55-75 frames per second, a far cry from the 165Hz the monitor boasts.
But due to the G-Sync technology you find it harder to notice these frame dips because there is no tearing combined with the display adjusting its refresh rate to your cards output instantaneously. That's the genius of G-Sync, it really does smooth out frame dips when it comes to your perception of them. Going from 60 FPS to 30 FPS on a non-G-Sync display like I used to have was very noticeable to me with visible "juddering" but with G-Sync enabled on the new monitor while playing very demanding games that stay around the 30-60 FPS range it's almost completely imperceptible to me.
So the last thing to discuss really is the price. I paid almost £700 for it, is that good value? You can get a Freesync version of this display which is 144Hz and IPS from ASUS for £250 less. Of course if you don't have an AMD graphics card and instead have an NVIDIA one you won't be able to take advantage of the variable refresh rate that those more affordable Freesync displays offer. For me, owning a high end NVIDIA graphics card I really had no other option than to buy either the ASUS PG279Q or the Acer XB271HU (which by the way is cheaper than the ASUS and you should check that out before buying either monitor). For me I chose the ASUS because I feel comfortable with their brand having owned many of their products but if you feel better about Acer they both essentially use the exact same panel and G-Sync module.
The bigger question is are these displays worth paying north of £500 for? - To me, gaming is an art form and playing a really great game isn't just about keeping my mind occupied. To me games are art and they've never looked or felt better than they do on this display, it's just undeniable to me and so the almost £700 price point while high was worth it to me. This display does live up-to the G-Sync hype and I cannot recommend it enough if you're looking to take your gaming setup to the next level.
