I've used this to assemble my Elfa storage system components in my garage, which requires hammering metal pieces into each other and lots of drywall anchors. I also prefer to use it over a hammer while inserting nails for hanging canvases on the walls. It has worked great for enlarging piolet holes and stabilizing toggle bolts into drywall prior to using the drill.
This mallet provides a good level of torque with minimal effort. The design distributes the force evenly and the rubber head prevents damage that would be caused by a traditional hammer. After several weeks of heavy use (as in being the only mallet used to install the entire garage storage system), the rubber head has remained dent-free and the peice still looks brand new.
I always trust tools made by Stanley. They are always well-made and stand the test of time.
There's a real wooden handle and a real rubber end (I'm sure there are more technical terms).
This is the size for most home projects, like pounding down something metal you don't want to dent or scratch. Chrome things, for example. Even wooden things, like furniture, which needs a few light taps.
I'm pleased.
