From the manufacturer
Elevate your imagination
Hold the magic of 3D printing in your hand with the MYNT3D Professional 3D Pen. Now you can use FDM technology in any application varying from drafting and prototyping to spatial learning and three dimensional sculpting. Whether you're an engineer or an artist, the MYNT3D Pen will take your design projects to greater heights.
Works with Nearly Any 1.75mm Filament Under the Sun
We at MYNT3D believe you should be able to use any thermoplastic you wish. ABS and PLA are a given, but what about wood or bronze infused filaments? If it is 1.75mm and melts between 140-230° C, then it will work in the MYNT3D Pen.
Recommended temperatures:
- ABS: 210° C
- PLA: 175° C
- All other plastics: Reduce temperature relative to recommendations for 3D printers
Fast, Slow, and Anywhere in Between
One speed isn't good enough for your car and it's not good enough for a 3D pen either. With the MYNT3D Pen you can crank up the extrusion speed for larger fill in areas and turn it down slow to create intricate works of art. The stepless design lets you dial in the optimal speed for any task you can throw at it.
But wait, there's more

Ergonomic shape keeps the controls always within reach and let's you manuever the pen in ways that would be impossible for a larger design. |
The MYNT3D Pen is USB powered so that it can be used with battery power banks (with at least 2A output). Take your projects outside or on the go! |
A temperature mistake with another pen could send it straight to the garbage. With MYNT3D we've got your back with a modular nozzle design that can be replaced in a matter of minutes. |

Customers are mixed about the quality of the mechanical components. Some mention that it looks like a decent pen, is fairly well designed, and is comfortable to hold. However, others say that it does heat up so be careful and help the smaller ones use it. It won't stay heated for long unless it's opertional and it keeps resetting itself. The pen keeps cooling itself down, and the tip can get quite hot.

There is a learning curve, you will definitely need more filament. I really like that this allows temperature settings for abs and pla. I can make 2 flat objects and then join them at off angles which I really like to create true 3d objects with ease. This of course comes at the cost of it only being as accurate as your hand moves. I suggest starting with the speed at the lowest level. Play with the temperature if needed. I suggest buying a roll of 20$ Pla filament for 3d printers like hatchbox unless you want the color variety. Then buy a 3d pen variety kit, but it will be more expensive. I was nervous about the temperature, but in reality, I can touch the filament as it just came out of the tip. I made a stand as my first project to hold the pen, but it turns out, letting sit flat on the silicone mat worked fine. The fresh pla was hot but wont leave a burn. The speed control, temperature control, and ease of use is amazing. Beware the chord is kinda short, i used it about 4ft from the plug, you may need an extension chord. The box it came in was packaged so nice! You’ll want a pair of tiny precision wire snips to cut off excess drool from your print, since as you pull away it will leave strings. I also got the myint doodle pad which was nice but not necessary to make precise shapes.
I found the prints sometimes cooled and peeled off my surface. Using masking tape helped it adhere better, as is the same with 3d printing. If its an issue for someone, I wonder if some sort of mild heated bed would work, like a beverage heater..?
I find in my use, the nozzle gets covered in the filament as I rub it around, so I bought a brush set from the dollar store and it works perfect to brush off the filament while the tips hot to keep it clean.
I had to switch from red to green and it was very easy to change filament, both by unloading and by just following up. Be sure to read the little manual. I have never got a clog yet. By loading directly, I did get a weird color, with red and green it wasn’t pretty, but I could see this being useful in applications to change colors often and create beautiful effects, although that is likely not recommended since it could cause clogs.
The pen fits nicely in my hand and is easy to manipulate. I was worried it would be big, but it is just right.

This pen isn't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but works well and is easy for a first time user to determine how to use. The extruder does get quite hot though, so I suggest parental observation when used by children to prevent burning.
Unfortunately, here we are at day 32 since delivery and it no longer works at all. The mechanism that pulls the PLA through no longer works.
It is customer service garbage that I can no longer return it after just 32 days. Total waste of money! Don't buy it.
