Pros:
1. Looks great only adding a bit of height to the original
2. The M.2 SATA drive (Samsung 860 EVO) worked perfectly and is now my boot drive making the system very fast
3. Did I mention that the boot time is significantly faster? Cause it is.
Cons:
1. The case does heat up a bit more than it previously did. This is to be expected with the heat of the SSD, but the case would benefit from increased ventilation either under or on the sides.
2. With the depth of the unit, it is not possible to have the opening for the micro SD card slot, so you will have to remove the bottom of the case to access it if you want to use it. This is not a problem for me as I now just boot from the SSD.
3. The system does take the bottom USB 3.0 port, so you are now limited to a single USB 3.0 port. I have yet to run into this limitation however.
4. The bottom doesn't sit completely flush with the top on the right side of the case (as seen from behind). This is not visibly detectable but I can feel it when I run my fingers around the unit while moving it. Again, not a big deal, but I would be remiss if I hadn't mentioned it.
Overall, great product, well designed and well made.
Raspberry Pi 4 brought an upgrade that allowed it to boot from a USB device instead of just the microsd card, meaning now the device can have more longevity and snappy boot/load times.
Argon40 brought the M.2 enhancement to their case, meaning I no longer have to carry around an extra external drive either!
The way this thing works is simple: they give you a board that is mounted in a new ArgonONE case bottom, and which basically takes any m.2 SATA SSD and makes it accessible as a USB device.
Once everything's mounted up, you just plug in the USB patch dongle between the m.2 tray and the nearest RPi USB port in the back.
They offer this capability as an add-on to existing ArgonONE cases, or as part of a bundle when purchasing a new one.
Protip: Even if you already bought the original main case, you might still want to buy the bundle anyway, because the updated case now provides an internal jumper for how the Pi behaves on power loss, as well as FULL-SIZE HDMI ports on the back!
This arrangement carries the benefit of allowing you to access the contents of that drive without opening the chassis (by swapping the dongle for a USB A-A cable to your PC instead).
It does also have a potential downside, in that unlike with the standalone ArgonONE case bottom, you cannot access the microSD card slot on the RPi while the drive tray is mounted. However, this is only a negative point if you insist on booting your Pi with a microSD card, but you're not THAT crazy, are you? :)

I wish this was aluminum like the top is.
I setup my boot priority to USB 1st and SD card 2nd. When I want to switch the the SD card I pull out the USB A to A adapter from the M.2 drive. I use a USB 3 A to A cable to transfer the images and files from my PC.
I wish the USB adapter for the M.2 had a toggle to make the boot switch easier.
I setup the fan profiles as suggested in the manual and after the start up whir I don't hear it.
FyI: the 512gb m.2 pictured was slightly smaller than the 512gb image I was trying to use. Pishrink worked wonderfully to fix my problem.

Mounted SSD drive in this unit. Connected unit to PC with USB 3.0 USB A to USB A cable. Computer saw drive and was able to flash a Raspberry Pi 4 image I had to the drive. After connected this unit to my Argon case and it booted right up, no issues.
Top reviews from other countries
I'm using mine as a boot drive for a homeassistant install - so far so good! And should be much more robust for consistent reads and writes compared to running from an SD card
There are a couple of things to note however:
- It covers the SD card slot completely when installed. This isn't an issue for my usecase, but i'd imagine it may be for others
- This does NOT support NVMe drives, only SATA
- Burning an OS image to the SSD was a bit of an odd task. I do not have an M.2 to usb caddy or adaptor other than this case. So, I had to adapt the female USB A port on this device to male using the included adaptor, and then run a USB extension to my PC. It worked fine, but i kind of expected a standard downstream connector like a micro USB female port or similar so that the case could be connected to a PC for imaging using a standard cable. Without a USB extension i would have had purchase a USB A to USB A cable which exist, but are not common at all, or a second USB to M.2 Adaptor just to be able to use this USB to M.2 Adaptor. (I'm sure theres a way to burn an image to the disk using the PI itself to avoid this, i just didnt consider that as i'm not running Raspberry PI OS, seemed silly installing an OS just to install another OS)
Overall very pleased however. I'd definitely recommend the upgrade if you have an Argon 1 case
I have tried a RECADATA 240GB SATAIII SSD M.2 2280 Solid State Drive and it didn't work seemed to be DOA.
I have had good success with the 120GB Kingston USB Sata3 drive.
