Ankle Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot

The United Ortho Ankle Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot provides maximum stability and support following injury or post-operative procedures.

The Ankle Air Cam walking boot can be used for acute ankle sprains, soft tissue injuries, stable lower leg, foot and ankle fractures and post-operative use. Universal fit for right or left foot.

Features

Plastic molded uprights with steel reinforcement provides increased durability. Shock-absorbing insole reduces impact of heel strike when walking. Rocker sole helps promote a natural gait to allow continuation of daily activities. Recommended up to 300 pounds

Proper Sizing

Correct application is vital to the proper functioning of the brace. Use foot length for a more precise fit as describe on the size chart.

Consider a larger boot if you are near the maximum size and these apply:

  • You wear a wide shoe
  • You will be using bandages or wearing thick socks
  • You have swelling
  • You typically like a looser fit

Consider a smaller boot if you are near the minimum size and these apply:

  • You wear a narrow shoe or have slim feet
  • You typically like a tighter fit

Determining Fit

Refer to size chart and understanding fit guide found in images and video that demonstrates proper application and fit.

Proper Application of United Ortho Short Air Walker Fracture Boot

United Ortho

United Ortho

United Ortho

Step 1

Open all the straps. Take the liner out of the boot. Place your foot in the liner making sure to slide your heel to the back of the liner.

For proper fit, completely remove the top strap.

*Additional comfort pads provided to fill gaps in the liner and provide additional padding where needed.

Step 2

Close liner starting at your toes. Make sure the liner is snug around your foot and leg.

Step 3

Place your foot with liner inside the boot making sure your heel is pushed all the way to the back of the boot.

Attach and fasten the top strap once your foot is in the proper position.

United Ortho

Step 4

Fasten the straps starting at the toes and working up.

*Toes may extend past end of the liner. If toes extend past rigid shell, a larger size is needed. Be sure your heel is properly positioned in the back of the boot.

*If numbness, tingling, or other discomfort is experienced, loosen the strap until comfortable. If any of these symptoms persist, contact your medical professional.

Step 5

To inflate: Turn “inflate/deflate” know clockwise until it stops turning. Press and release blue air bulb several times until the air liner provides desired support.

*Liner may expand during initial use. Additional pumps may be required to return to desired support.

Step 6

To deflate: Turn “inflate/deflate” knob counterclockwise until it stops turning.

*If air liner is fully deflated, it may take upwards of 50 pumps to feel the desired support.

After a recent incident where I ended up rolling my ankle into a midlevel sprain I needed a boot. My wife found this United Ortho Short Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot and - thanks to Amazon’s overnight Prime option - we bought it and had it here the next day. After almost three weeks I can say this United Ortho Short Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot has been a great asset for me, helping protect and give a place to heal my foot, while allowing me to also safely walk as soon as I was able to be up on it.The United Ortho Short Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot is mostly well designed with good materials and has stayed strong throughout. I will say, due to my injuries I have been unable to put the United Ortho Short Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot on by myself throughout. My wife has had to do it. From my standpoint, it would be a little hard at times - on and off can be a bit painful, but as we got used to it, less issues happened each time. We also learned a few “short cuts” such as having the inner boot inside the outer boot and me setting my foot into the whole unit - rather than putting it into the inner boot and setting both into the outer boot - saving me pain from the narrow opening. The pushbutton air filling mechanism is in an... okay spot. I again could not do it myself until recently, but even for my wife it meant a kind of “bending” to reach it for her. And it requires a pretty solid, hefty pumping motion in order to get the air in. You’ll work for it. But with each pump I could feel the air entering and could talk her through what and how much I needed. So from that standpoint, it worked well. And the mechanism works outstandingly well when emptying, Over the three weeks I only - somehow we still can’t figure out - accidents released the air once. The inside feels good and comfortable, but equally supportive even without the air. But that air felt so much better once in. I never felt weakness nor discomfort when wearing or walking. I never wore a sock in there, and mostly remained cool and comfortable, but maybe twice I did get a bit hot. Nothing slipping off the outer boot didn’t help. Even the inner boot was comfortable alone and while it didn’t give them the same level of support, it reminded me to watch out for my ankle and kept it from giving way - I never walked with it alone. The United Ortho Short Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot included two cushioned pads you can set inside, securing with velcro, in order to provide more cushion and aide in proper fit. We used these every time and they worked well. I do wish they’d include a second set as these two - while still being good and can be used in the future - do take a bit of a beating. It would be nice to have that second set as a back up.In the end I’m still using this United Ortho Short Air Cam Walker Fracture Boot for another few days to week, and from the first time we slipped it on, my wife and I are both happy with how well it worked. It has helped me through and I am grateful for it. Any “cons” are so weak they would not keep me from using this now again, or getting another just like it (hoping I never need to, that is).

Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2023
I have a severe ankle sprain into week 7 of babying this thing and have been wearing the tall walking boot from the doctors office which I have learned to appreciate, especially when I’m not wearing it . I was also given a brace that just wasn’t enough and couldn’t fit my shoe over it . I still have pain ,swelling and instability in my ankle on uneven surfaces like grass . I wanted a short boot to be able to navigate around easier and hope to finally heal . I was very impressed with the quality of this boot and the air pump . It was fully inflated and has extra padding with it . I wear a size 7 in woman's and the small fits perfect. If I didn’t have it inflated so much my toes would not be sticking out. It feels really soothing and good on my ankle . It’s light weight . My tall boot is much larger and near too big and it was a small ! I almost purchased an extra small boot because of this. I am glad I didn’t. It was difficult to find same day or next day availability in shipping . I looked on Amazon for quite a while and eventually this is the product I wanted and it popped up .
What was weird was I started searching a little bit over 3 days and they all seemed in reasonably price range and place in my cart to purchase …..but over a week or later for shipping . So I quit looking . Then decided to look again and buy anyway with late ship and everything had a $20 dollar or more price hike ! I am definitely noticing fluctuating prices on Amazon , one minute it’s this , and the next it’s that , it seems once they see you are interested in it the price increases. Ive even had prices increase even after an item is placed in my cart ! So I said forget that I don’t need the boot ! Then day 3 rolls around and the short walking boot I wanted , and tried to find locally at a box stores with zero success pops up reasonably price again with same day shipping . Can you say tracking ? I purchased it right away and am very happy with my purchase and quality but am unhappy with what I feel is Amazon Vendor Trickery tracking and price gouging. Really , if I’ve noticed it others have also . I love you Amazon but please stop your vendors from doing this ! Don’t fall for that folks just because it’s something you want or need !
