Nice red dot for the budget minded shooter
5 Stars
Nice red dot for the budget minded shooter
I bought this red dot sight for one of my AK rifles after reading many reviews and comparisons. Originally I was going to get a Primary Arms red dot, but opted for the AT-3 instead. What sold me was the reviews and price. While I am sure there are many other options which may be better, for my money, this works for me. The sight itself feels solid and "substantial". By that I don't mean it's heavy. It just doesn't feel like it's plastic and will fall apart after a few trips to the range. It came packaged safely in a foam lined box along with zeroing instructions, an Allen wrench, cloth to clean the glass, a battery and an explanation on how astigmatism may affect how one sees the actual dot. I have astigmatism in my right eye and I wear contacts or glasses and have not, personally, had any issues with this sight. I can't say that other people will not have a problem. After putting the battery in, I turned it on to the first of its eleven brightness settings. I find that for me, seven is as high as I want to go. Eight through eleven is too bright for me and my eye percieves this as a "starburst" rather than a dot. Although I think that on a large target or one that is close to the shooter, this wouldn't affect most people. The brightness knob is tight but that is a good thing in my opinion. It is still easy enough to turn. My only gripe would be that the battery cover is screwed into the brightness knob and one could accidentally loosen the battery cover while changing the brightness of the dot. I did not have a problem however. There are two turrets as well with screw on caps. One for windage, one for elevation. Adjustments are easy to make and I was within the bullseye in six shots. After that, I had some fun shooting the rest of my cheap Russian ammo at the target.I am happy with this sight and it is my first red dot sight. Prior to this I have had no experience with this type of optic. I do have a reflex sight on my AR, which is very similar. I am also pleased with the quality for the money and ease of use and adjustment of this optic. I can recommend this to budget conscious shooters and I hope my review has helped someone in making their decision.
