There Must Be Horses Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 197 ratings

Sasha’s love of horses has been the only constant during her turbulent life in care. When yet another move takes her to a farm that retrains troubled horses, she's sure she's found her perfect home. But she can’t stay. The couple who run the farm are sure about that. They've only agreed to take her for a little while, and they only did that reluctantly. Can Sasha persuade them to change their minds and let her stay forever? And can she do it before her social worker moves her again to another place without horses?

I love this genre. I guess in some ways, I'm still that girl wishing for a horse which is funny considering I haven't been without a horse for more than a year since I was a girl. LOL!!!
One thing I really like about this book is that it wasn't full of unrealistic horse information. The author either did her research or has much horse experience. In fact, some of the horse related part of the story was very insightful and presented very realistic information.
The protagonist and supporting characters were very believable with real emotions and depth of character. The story line though was a bit predictable and had a bit of a fairytale ending, although unlike most fairytales the ending is possible.
All in all, I really enjoyed the book and it's definitely something the target audience will enjoy and find readable.

Follows the main characters wish to be accepted for how she is and who she is- and for her own wishes to be heard. This is something that many people can relate to- the wish to be accepted and respected as a person. The story is reflected within the horse and the main character, and the 2 meet to help each other.

A nice, "feel good" story of a little girl and a horse where bad circumstances bring them together and love keeps them together.

Well-written story with characters that are believable. You can sympathize and understand their perspectives and choices although you may not always agree with them. It's an emotional story with depth. I don't see this as just a children's book... the story is for all ages IMO

The book is easy to read and the story line easy to follow. It teaches that it is okay to share your feelings with people that you trust, and that sometimes things are not what they seem. If you love horses and like working with horses, this is a book that you can enjoy.

The heart rending mix of an unloved child and an abandoned horse. Combined with the healing power of horses. A very special book that I enjoyed from cover to cover!

What a wonderful story! Suitable for older readers and adults alike, this is the story of Sasha, a 12 year old girl who has been traumatised by constant moves and an unsettled upbringing. However, when she goes to live in a temporary home in the countryside she finds herself surrounded by the one thing she loves - horses!

When she meets Meteor, a horse troubled by his own mixed past, she must overcome her own fears and learn to trust again.

I loved it and had a tear in my eye at the end...

It did help that my daughter rides so I have picked up a few things watching, but I think this story is suitable for anyone who doesn't know anything about horses too.

Highly recommended for both the storyline and beautiful writing.

Moving around as a foster child means Sasha learns to keep her emotions as much under comtrol as she can. A horse called Meteor teaches her that when she lets go her life can change for the better.

I enjoyed every single second of it. Not one boring moment. It "grabbed" me from the first page and couldn't put it down. I read it in two days and LOVED it. I'm a nearly 29 years old crazy horse girl, have been riding since I was 4, had my own horses and trained several more. I agree with every horsey part in this book but I also find lots of similarities between me and Sasha. It's a book for all ages and it doesn't matter if you are a horsey person or not. It's so well and simply described that anyone will understand it.
LOVED it! LOVED it! LOVED it!
