Iroshizuku Fountain Pen InkRefill your Pilot Fine Writing fountain pen with our Iroshizuku inks. The name “Iroshizuku” is a combination of the Japanese words “Iro" (coloring), expressing high standards and variation of colors, and “Shizuku" (droplet), that embodies the very image of dripping water. Each ink name derives from the expressions of beautiful Japanese natural landscapes and plants, all of which contribute to the depth of each individual hue. |

I don't see/feel any differences of old version and new version of Pilot Metropolitan pens except older one with a nicer box coming with it.
They are smooth, good weight, the ink doesn't dry up even with a reasonable period of no-use.
I don't use cartridge and prefer old fashion bottled ink, the build-in converter is fine, but I like to separate sold converter which you can turn nob to re-fill.CON-50. just simply pull the old one out and insert the CON-50 and it works like a charm.
Only issue I had is I bought both fine nib vs. medium nib (medium obviously costs ~$2 more), yet when they came, I tried to write and couldn't really tell the differences, and both look the same in exterior, with "<M>" mark on the nib (I'm not sure if they shipped the wrong item or <M> stands for something else). but other than that, I'm super happy with my purchase, it's not a premium expensive pen but feels nice and not cheap and most importantly does the work.

Positives: This pen writes very smoothly, especially on better paper. The medium tip is just about perfect for everyday writing - bold, but fine enough for those who write small, such as myself, to write clearly. I'm writing in cursive for the first time in almost 20 years because of this pen. I love to doodle and scribble just to use it. Comparing this medium nib to the medium nib on the Varsity disposable pens, the Metropolitan's medium nib is finer. Some websites say that this nib would be closer to a "fine" in other brands. The pen also starts writing instantly, unless you let it dry out by leaving the cap off. The metal construction of the pen also gives it a nice heft and the posted cap balances well. The pen gives an impression of being more expensive than it is, and certainly better feel-wise than some of the all-plastic alternatives available at the entry-level price point.
Negatives: The lines can be inconsistent; it always flows, but sometimes a little more freely than others. The supplied adapter holds less than the disposable cartridges, and the rubber squeeze design always leaves you wondering if you've filled it correctly and renders you unable to check your ink levels, while the translucent disposable cartridges never leave you guessing. Refilling the squeeze adapter can be a messy affair -- I've taken to using a syringe to fill it rather than dipping the tip in the ink. I've also considered using a syringe to refill a disposable cartridge.
Overall, if you enjoy writing, this is an inexpensive way to experiment with this classic pen design. No rollerball or ballpoint will ever be good enough for me again.
I got exactly what I ordered (though I wasn’t sure what type of con I’d get, but more on that later), it was exactly on time, in perfect condition, and carefully packed. All parts accounted for: screw apart pen plus cap, ink cartridge, and converter in a padded case - and working properly. It even came with a small instruction page.
I am not super crazy about the squeezy (elongated rubber tube in metal case) converter style, but it holds puh-lenty of ink and is not terribly difficult to refill, attach, remove, and rinse out. I also wouldn’t have minded if more of the pen was metal, but geez, for $15 this is an astounding amount of pen!
I intend to buy some nice coloured ink to put in the pen in the near future, and maybe later buy some different converter types to see if I will actually like them any better.
Truly. I love to write with this pen, and I think you will too. No need to buy an expensive brand name fountain pen. Just buy this one!!!

Pros:
- Pen writes like Butter....SUPER SMOOTH
- Comes with a descent reservoir and don't need to buy anything else than a good inkpot.
- Being made of metal Pen is heavy and hence, less pressure (bare minimum) is required to write.
- Pen is well constructed and looks sophisticated.
- It has a steel nib and which writes great.
- If you hold pen from a bit above (Which I usually do) the width of the pend seems great.
Cons:
- With Cap mounted on its back, the pen becomes super heavy as it is made up of metal but it is not a concern for me as I usually don't mount caps on pen's bum as it leaves a weird kind of marks on pen eventually.
- The grip from the lower section is somehow not thick for a guy with big hands like mine.
- Doesn't come with any cartridge and is not a ready to use pen. So in case you are a first timer, order an inkpot along with pen as you will have to wait to get ink. I use Parker Quink inks as they dry fast and I just love them.
Note: I usually mix inks. like 5 drop of blue and one drop of black as blue is too blue for me. Even with mixed inks the flow from the nib is consistent and the ink is not drying. Great pen!
I have a Lamy safari fine nib but it is giving me feedback while writing and is scratchy but this one is writing like butter. Loved the pen!
This pen is not recommended for beginners in the world of fountain pen. They will not be able to enjoy it like users of fountain pens. Its flow of ink is excellent and surprisingly it never be dried in summer. Highly recommend for enjoying writing
