Good directions and nice description of shortish hikes. However, what they describe as "easy" is and isn't. It didn't involve a lot of climbing but did involve some uphill and it wasn't a walk or carriage roads--you had to watch your feet. As a result, I didn't think that the easy rating was truly easy--not a walk in the park but overall very helpful

The Berkshire Mountains in western Massachusetts are quite old, and quite worn down compared to, say, the Rockies. However, the area offers a variety of hikes, includes these 20 day hikes, which should be doable by a broad range of walkers and hikers. As another reviewer has noted, uneven and/or slippery rock surfaces are a possibility on some of these trails.

The guide offers a description, a sketch map, and directions for each walk. It does pay to read the directions closely, and to go forth prepared for unexpected weather and mishaps. Well recommended to the older enterprising traveler in the Berkshires.
