FAQs
Q. Why does the Motion Sensor report motion when there wasn't any (aka False Positives)?
A. Certain environmental conditions can cause false triggers. Avoid placing Motion Sensors in direct sunlight or near heat sources like hot air vents or portable heaters or steam from showers. You can also reduce the Sensor’s sensitivity by unplugging and plugging it back in 4 times. The blue LED will flash slowly while it’s starting up, indicating that sensitivity is set to low. Try it again, and it will flash rapidly, meaning sensitivity is set to high.
Q. What is the blue LED used for?
A. The blue LED will turn on when motion is detected. It will remain on until there is no motion for 30 seconds.
Q. Does this motion sensor have Pet Immunity?
A. No. This motion sensor does not have Pet Immunity. Pets can trigger the motion sensor.
Q. Can this motion sensor be used with other Smart Home hubs?
A. No. This motion sensor is designed to work exclusively with Echo Flex.
Q. More helps?

Product Description
Third Reality’s Motion Sensor for Echo Flex is a PIR (Passive Infra-Red) sensor capable of detecting motion up to 20 feet away with a 120° viewing angle. Simply plug the Motion Sensor into Echo Flex’s USB port and Alexa will automatically discover it. Using the Alexa app, you can then create Routines which are triggered when (i) motion is detected or (ii) motion is not detected for a period of time. When creating a new routine using the Alexa app, under Routines, tap “When this happens”, select “Device”, select your motion sensor then decide what type of action to take when motion is either detected or not detected. For more information on how to create routines and routine options, go to the Alexa app. Try creating a routine that plays a News Briefing when motion is detected in the morning and a custom greeting that Alexa will say when you come home at night. Create a routine that will send an Alexa app notification when motion is detected. If you have a Smart Light or Smart Switch, use a Routine to automatically turn the light or switch on when you walk into a room and turn it off if there’s been no motion for a while. Expert Tip – you can adjust the Motion Sensor’s sensitivity by unplugging and plugging it back in 4 times. The blue LED will flash slowly while it’s starting up, indicating that sensitivity is set to low. Try it again, and it will flash rapidly, meaning sensitivity is set to high.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Bought 6 Echo Flex devices that came bundled with this motion detector. Set up 2 of them. Walk into my bathroom or garage and the lights would come on. No motion for 1 minute and the lights would go off. Perfect. Great. Grand. Terrific. Wonderful. A week later I walked through the garage, lights on. 30 mins later went back out into the garage and lights are still on! Unplugged the Flex and plugged back in to reset it. Walked by it, lights went on. 1 minute later and the lights were still on. I went to look at the one in my bathroom and same thing! Weird how they both stopped working on the same exact day!
I reached out to them through email and hope to hear back from them with other things I can try to get these working again otherwise I'm returning all of them.
Unfortunately, some time in November, Amazon had an update that broke this motion detector. The motion sensor defaulted to "no motion after 00:00" minutes behavior. This meant that ANY routine that was designed to be trigged after a set period of time of “no motion” would not work. I have it set to turn off the lights in the kitchen after 25 minutes of no motion. This bug made it turn off the lights as soon as it detects no motion. If we are sitting eating dinner, cutting onions or stirring a pot and stand still, even for a second, it shuts off the lights. I'm not happy and more importantly the family, isn't happy when they find themselves in the dark. I had to turn off the routine.
I was ready to throw out the item (there is nothing I hate more than broken tech). BUT, in January they fixed the bug and it has worked flawlessly ever since.
It is a great buy and is the only wifi motion sensor for Alexa that I am aware of at this moment.
Still, I am a bit worried that this was ever allowed to happen. Taking that unreliability into account I deduct a star from a potential five star rating.
Updated 12/19/2021 - Since I bought this motion sensor, it has stopped working properly twice - November 2020 for a month and April 2021 for three months. Both times, it was due to Amazon messing up with the software. After numerous customer service calls, chat sessions, and forum postings, the software gets fixed eventually and the device starts working again flawlessly.
Original review:
This THIRDREALITY motion sensor works, but mine has a minor glitch. I can't disable the device using the Alexa app on my iPhone. Even when I switch it to "disabled", it triggers the routine I created. This isn't a big deal (instead of disabling the sensor, I disable the routine), but it should work. Hence, the four stars (I take into account that this motion sensor is really affordable).
By the way, like at least one other reviewer mentioned, this doesn't create a standard alert when it detects motion (eg, an email or text message). If you want a lingering record that motion has been detected, you'll have to get creative as far as choosing an action or actions in your routine.
Update Nov 2021
I have changed my rating as it started working again. It took a bit of starting/re-staring and re-adding but it has worked for months now.

I already using some other (very popular ) motion sensors but i had to use IFTTT app and there was often big delay between motion and executing some action .This sensor respond very quickly and big bonus -no batteries ! For my needs perfect !Recommended.
