FAQs

Q. Why does the Motion Sensor report motion when there wasn't any (aka False Positives)?

A. Certain environmental conditions can cause false triggers. Avoid placing Motion Sensors in direct sunlight or near heat sources like hot air vents or portable heaters or steam from showers. You can also reduce the Sensor’s sensitivity by unplugging and plugging it back in 4 times. The blue LED will flash slowly while it’s starting up, indicating that sensitivity is set to low. Try it again, and it will flash rapidly, meaning sensitivity is set to high.

Q. What is the blue LED used for?

A. The blue LED will turn on when motion is detected. It will remain on until there is no motion for 30 seconds.

Q. Does this motion sensor have Pet Immunity?

A. No. This motion sensor does not have Pet Immunity. Pets can trigger the motion sensor.

Q. Can this motion sensor be used with other Smart Home hubs?

A. No. This motion sensor is designed to work exclusively with Echo Flex.

Q. More helps?

A. Please check the help pages from 3reality.com

    Product Description

Third Reality’s Motion Sensor for Echo Flex is a PIR (Passive Infra-Red) sensor capable of detecting motion up to 20 feet away with a 120° viewing angle. Simply plug the Motion Sensor into Echo Flex’s USB port and Alexa will automatically discover it. Using the Alexa app, you can then create Routines which are triggered when (i) motion is detected or (ii) motion is not detected for a period of time. When creating a new routine using the Alexa app, under Routines, tap “When this happens”, select “Device”, select your motion sensor then decide what type of action to take when motion is either detected or not detected. For more information on how to create routines and routine options, go to the Alexa app. Try creating a routine that plays a News Briefing when motion is detected in the morning and a custom greeting that Alexa will say when you come home at night. Create a routine that will send an Alexa app notification when motion is detected. If you have a Smart Light or Smart Switch, use a Routine to automatically turn the light or switch on when you walk into a room and turn it off if there’s been no motion for a while. Expert Tip – you can adjust the Motion Sensor’s sensitivity by unplugging and plugging it back in 4 times. The blue LED will flash slowly while it’s starting up, indicating that sensitivity is set to low. Try it again, and it will flash rapidly, meaning sensitivity is set to high.

Awesome for creating routines that are triggered by motion
This add-on for the Echo Flex allows you to create routines that are triggered by any detected motion. The motion sensor plugs into the USB port at the bottom of the Echo Flex. There is a small blue light on the left that indicates when motion is detected. In testing, the motion sensor seemed to work very well, consistently sensing movement at 15 feet or less. I was easily able to create a routine that turned some of my smart lights on whenever motion was detected. For the cost, I feel like this a great value; as the Echo Flex plus this add-on currently cost $40 total. Being able to have Alexa functionality in a hallway, plus the ability to trigger routines based on motion detection, makes this a super useful little device.Setup was very easy, as the motion sensor was immediately detected by the Alexa app when I plugged it in. Configuring routines is also very easy and straightforward. I would recommend this add-on for anyone that wants to add motion triggered routines, as it seems to work well so far.To set up a motion sensor routine:Open the Alexa app. Open the Menu (three lines in upper left), and choose "Routines". Add a new routine with the Plus sign in the upper right. Touch the Plus sign to the right of "When this happens." Choose "Smart Home" from the list of categories. Select "First motion sensor", and then "Next" in the upper right. Then you can use the Plus sign next to "Add action" to select what you want to happen when motion is detected. I chose "Smart Home" and then "Lights" to make the lights come on when motion is detected. Then make sure to touch "Save" in the upper right, and you should now see your routine listed in the Routines menu.If you have any other questions, feel free to comment on this review and I will try to run any tests or answer any questions you have.

This motion sensor playing nicely with Echo Flex . After you finish Flex setup you have to only plug sensor in USB port ,that's it . Echo Flex will automatically discover sensor and is ready to use. Sensor respond and execute routines very good . If you have smart plugs,bulbs,switches...linked to your Alexa account very easily you can set routine for example -if motion detected to turn lights on ,or play music, send announcement, open skills ... also if motion is detected you can get notification on your cell phone.
I already using some other (very popular ) motion sensors but i had to use IFTTT app and there was often big delay between motion and executing some action .This sensor respond very quickly and big bonus -no batteries ! For my needs perfect !Recommended.
