Contact Sensors Separated From Strap - Wahoo Fitness Support Problems
REVIEW UPDATEIronically (or serendipitously?) I received a complete new Wahoo TICKR in a new box after this review was published. I got a new TICKR unit and strap, although I only needed a new strap. I wanted to use the new strap a bit before updating my review. I'm happy to say that the sensor contacts have not separated from the new strap. However, the snaps that attach the TICKR unit to the strap are not as secure as the first strap and I've had the TICKR unit unsnap from the strap during rides twice so far.I will also say that I've had zero connection problems with the TICKR head unit. It pairs and connects fast and holds its pairing with a variety of devices.ORIGINAL REVIEWSince it was delivered at the beginning of July, I've used my TICKR about 20 times over the past 11 weeks. I've found the device to be accurate, the band comfortable, and pairing to be quick and stable with all of my fitness devices. I've hand washed and drip dried the strap after every use.Unfortunately, the sensor contacts started to separate from the strap. One contact is about 70% separated and the contact at the other end of the strap about 40% separated. As the sensor contacts separate from the strap the TICKRs ability to sustain a connection to any recording device (cycling computer, fitness watch, etc.) during a workout fails. Obviously, this renders the TICKR useless. To make matters worse, the normally rock-solid Wahoo Fitness support department appears to have dropped the ball. I initially called Wahoo Fitness 3 weeks ago to discuss the problem. I was informed that a new strap would be shipped to me. I called Wahoo Fitness again 2 weeks ago to check on the status and was told that my information was in the system and the new strap, along with a tracking number email, would be sent out ASAP. I called again 3 days ago and left a VM asking for an update. I still have not heard anything from them.I own several Wahoo products and I am surprised, and disappointed, at the lack of follow-through from the company regarding my defective TICKR strap. As it stands now my TICKR has stopped working within an 11 week period with no warranty coverage provided, and as such, I can not recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great while cycling, jogging, and even kickboxing / jiu jitsu!
Reviewed in Canada on November 8, 2016
I originally purchased this product for use with the cycling app STRAVA (where I compete in time trials across different routes in my city) but I have found that it is useful for lots of other activities. Obviously with any sort of cardio this device will be useful, but it is also useful for non-cardio related activities such as breathing exercises and meditation (seeing how you can lower your heart rate during stress), public speaking, and even full-contact sports like kickboxing / jiu jitsu.

Pros:
-It's simple to set-up, pairs easily to the phone
-HR readings are accurate
-Straps are adjustable and it generally stays on your body very well.
-If you like statistics & data, this thing is awesome
-LOTS of apps work with TICKR, so you don't have to worry about it going obsolete any time soon

Cons:
-Bluetooth being activated on your phone can drain the battery quicker
-During REALLY aggressive workouts the monitor can slowly slide down your body if you don't ensure the straps are tight enough.

With regards to my last point, the only time I had the TICKR slide down my body happened while rolling jiu jitsu. For those that don't know, jiu jitsu is a grappling sport which involves a lot of physical contact. In truth I would not recommend using the TICKR for full contact sports as it could be damaged. Regardless, I wanted to really test out the TICKR and it passed with flying colors! The monitor DID slide down to my belly area by the end of the class, but to my surprise the HR data recorded was accurate all the way through! I have attached a screenshot of the Wahoo Cardio App as proof. You can see my heart rate spikes during warm-up, slows down during technique, and then rises again during sparring. Super cool!

Overall, I would definitely recommend this product if you are interested in leveraging your heart rate data to improve your health and overall performance. 10/10!
