Griffin: Cerberus MC Book 8 Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 1,743 ratings

I was the golden child. The one all the Cerberus guys looked up to. I was on my way to becoming the next career Marine.

But after my last deployment to Syria, being a Marine was no longer an option.

Unfortunately, my not so honorable discharge from the Corps didn’t get rid of the demons created while I was enlisted.

Not even my childhood friend can save me. I’ll destroy her just like I destroyed everything else I touched.

Another good story in the Cerberus MC lineup...This book is based on Griffin Griggs who is Shadow & Misty's eldest son and Genevieve (Ivy) who is one of Kincaid and Emmalyn's twin daughters. Ivy has always had her eye on Griffin since they were kids, even though he is 2 years older than her and despite her crush on him, he's only ever noticed her twin Gigi who was always seeking everyone's attention. Ivy is going to college and living in RI with Delilah and Lawson and trying to accept that the boy she's been deeply in love with all of her life doesn't even notice her. So she decides its time to give up, move on, and live her life. Thats when Griffin's life begins crumbling down around him. He has dedicated the last 4 years of his life to serving in the Military. He feels like everyone expects so much from him not only as Shadow's son but also as the eldest Cerberus son. He has some unexpected things happen while hes serving time in Syria and everything hes been working so hard for is taken from him. It sends him on a downwards spiral and he needs his family to see him through. Yet the only person who can calm the ghosts of his past is none other than Ivy, the quiet, shy, innocent, and very beautiful twin that he'd never taken the time to notice until now. I love that he finds a light at the end of the tunnel in Ivy and that he finally sees her and not her sister. Everything comes full circle and they both begin to fall in love with each other. And im glad that they can finally come together BUT I would've really liked for the blurb to match the book.🤔 In this book Griffin tells Ivy that they've never really been friends. That they barely ever crossed words. That seems weird since it's implied in the blurb that they're childhood best friends. And then there's the mention of Griffin playing Ivy's favorite songs during Delilah and Samson's birthday party in the book 'Lawson'. I feel like this book was kind of rushed but I still enjoyed reading it. I'm glad that they get their HEA and I can't wait to see more of all of the OG Cerberus members as well as the newest ones in future books. Definitely recommend this book and the rest of them. Can't wait to see what happens next with Samson and Camryn!

GRIFFIN, the eighth book in author Marie James's Cerberus MC series is another slow burn, must-read romance extraordinaire! With ever book I have read, I think nothing will top it, and then then next novel I read does just that! The plotlines are so compelling and varied, the characters are well developed and deserving, and the the prose while easy to read also makes the reader become totally invested in the story. Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone, but be forewarned, one you start this series, you'll want to read every novel! Thank goodness they are available with a Kindle Unlimited subscription! Get your copy of GRIFFIN today. Happy pages!😉

Griffin
By: Marie James

4 Star Review by Kristie K

Hold onto your hats ladies…the men of Cerberus are back!

Marie James has delivered yet another swoon-worthy alpha male to add to the ranks of Kincaid, Shadow, Snatch, and more recently, Lawson and Hound, to name a few. Griffin takes his rightful place in those ranks with his own tale of service, betrayal, heartbreak, and redemption.

Serving in the Marine Corps was the only thing he ever wanted to do. A young man of strength, integrity, and courage, he followed his dream with vigor, determination, and honor...until the day he followed a madman into battle and came home a coward. The nightmares were all to real for Griffin, and his shame and cowardice haunted him day and night. Coming home to the family that loved him, only added to his shame. In his mind, he had committed the ultimate betrayal, the ultimate sin. Refusing the unconditional love of his family, Griffin secludes himself and finds solace at the bottom of a bottle. His redemption comes to him in the form of a beautiful angel. Kind and pure as the driven snow, Ivy has loved Griffin her whole life. When news of his homecoming hits her, she drops everything to be by his side and provide what he needs to heal. What she doesn’t expect, though, is the drunk and spiteful man she finds when she gets home. Pushing her way into his life, Ivy forces Griffin to see what is right in front of him. Will she be enough to banish his demons, or will the demons win the war?

As with the rest of them, I loved and adored these characters! Marie puts so much heart and soul into them, you can’t help but know them…feel them…love them. Griffin’s story was different than many of them in the past, as the battles he faced were within himself, rather than an outside force. And, though it contained plenty of angst, it didn’t have the stomach dropping plot twist so many often do. I haven’t quite reconciled whether or not I missed the action, or feel refreshed by the change. Either way, Griffin and Ivy have solidified themselves in my Hall of Fame, along with the rest of the Cerberus MC.

This story was just Wow! My heart broke for Ivy watching her pine away over Griffen over the years. Nothing, though, prepared me for Griffen's return from the Marines and what he goes through once he returns! I can't wait to watch this whole MC family grow!

I am up to book 9. I am enjoying all of them so far. I like that they all are wrapped around the first book and the family. When I started the series, I wasn't sure if I was going to go further. Language is a bit strong. So here I am starting book 9. I can deal with the sex and the language.

Wow what a story! I'm absolutely loving the kids books!

This is Griffin and Ivy's story.

Ivy has had a crush on Griffin from a young age but he never noticed her. She has always been overlooked for her more vibrant sister so she just accepted it as it is. But when Griffin comes back after being discharged she heads home to check on him. What she finds is not the Griffin she knew.

Griffin is on a dark path. After seeing and doing things no one should whilst on tour he can't seem to escape his own mind. His guilt makes him want to stay there. He's trying his best to forget and using alcohol as a means. He wants nothing to do with anyone. Not even his parents as he can't look them in the eye.

When Ivy turns up looking for him his bitterness takes over but she refuses to let him hide and tries to help him as best she can. Griffin wants her to go away but somehow he keeps managing to pull her closer. Griffin needs to sort out his own problems before he drags Ivy down with him and gets her hurt but she's the only one who gives him peace in his time of need.

Awwwwww poor Griffin! My heart actually broke for him. I hated that he felt he had to isolate himself from everyone and that he actually believed he was a bad person. Honestly sometimes it was so hard read. The pain he went through in his own mind was awful. Thankfully Ivy never gave up on him even when he was being hurtful towards her.

Ivy was such a sweetheart! I loved her! There were parts i wanted to give her hug and tell her to hang on in there. I didn't blame Griffin he wasn't in his right mind but the poor girl went through the ringer to help him. She has such a beautiful soul and her feelings for him carried her through even when most would have give up. Griffin is a very lucky boy she's always loved him!

I can't praise the writing enough in this one. This subject is always going to be a tough one but this was done brilliantly. It actually felt like reading a biography at some points it felt so realistic. The torture of PTSD is hard to get right but Marie James hit expert level. You can tell that research was done to get this right.

The storyline will pull you in from start to finish. I found myself not being able to put it down not even to go to the loo, Griffin and Ivy came with me! lol

As always it's amazing to see all the other characters from past books, i love those guys so much!

I can't wait for more! I never want this series to end! Ever!

Highly recommend. You could probably read this as a standalone but the rest of the series is equally as awesome. Give them a go because this series is incredible. This one is heartbreaking at times but thankfully your heart will be rebuilt, piece by piece by the end. Big smiles for Ivy and Griffin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly Emotional

Have loved this series from the beginning and as we head more and more into the second generation my attachment to this series grows stronger. Griffin is drowning in guilt, shame and nightmares but can his childhood friend and the one that has loved him from afar be his saviour. In true Cerberus MC fashion this family will show their strength, love and loyalty to Griffin even when he fights them every inch of the way. Griffin and Ivy’s story is eye opening as he finally sees the girl that is now a woman before him. Their story to happiness is hard and at times you want to dislike Griffin but the torment that plagues will have you cheering for him to have his pleas for help heard. A story that is highly emotional that will cause your heart to ache, appreciate our servicemen and have you falling in love right along side these two.
