I like the ablility to adjust the shortcuts/keys and that I can also use this board for other applications as well. It is a little larger than I was expecting but that doesn’t go against it’s usefulness. If you are a photographer who uses Lightroom, I highly suggest this. The initial investment is a little steep but it saves a lot of time in the flow.

Unfortunately, I don’t use Lightroom, I use Capture One and at least for now, there is the rub. The implementation on C1 is in beta release, and lacking a lot of the slick functionality of the LR version.
After trying this on Lightroom, I desperately want this tool to edit with. In C1 at the moment, Loupedeck is interfacing by emulating a keyboard, meaning turning a knob generates key presses in the system. It does not have the “push knob to reset” functionality, and since a knob turn is generating what the system sees as a series of key presses, Undo requires hitting a number of key presses to actually Undo the knob turn. Clumsy and inelegant. Loupedeck installs a Capture One Keyboard shortscuts file to interface. The problem there is a number of C1 users, including myself, bought the Capture One bundle from Phase One that included the Logic Keyboard for C1. That keyboard requires its own Keyboard shortcut to work. So right now Loupedeck will not work with the Phase One keyboard, and vice versa.
Now Capture One has internal support for the Tangent Wave controllers, and this is activated by a checkbox in the preferences of C1. TangentWave panels are great, but they are almost $4K for the whole rig, and far more than a photographers needs. They do support the “press to reset” knobs as well. Tangent also make a VS version, using an iPad for the panel, but dragging my finger on glass doe not have the great interface feel of a physical knob.
I emailed both Phase One and LoupeDeck to ask that they please work together to make this as seamless on C1 as Loupedeck it on LR. I plan to keep bugging both companies.
Love the LoupeDeck+, just need to see it fully functional on Capture One.

After using the board for a week, you gain muscle memory and hardly need to look down. It’s expensive but I won’t edit without this now.
Then I discovered the Loupedeck+ which took 5 minutes to set up, 5minutes to learn and has literally since saved me hundreds of hours in productivity. From quickly selecting shots to making miniscule tweaks to colours, Loupedeck does it all - intuitively enough that you can leave your eyes focused on the image letting your fingers change multiple settings simultaneously. Rarely do you need to reach for the mouse or keyboard and can also change two settings or more at the same time - something you can't do with just a mouse. This makes for a great working environment, editing a photo used to take me 10 minutes but can sometimes take me 30 seconds - and I've explored more possibilities and experimented with different settings.
If I had to share a negative it would be that Loupedeck's software does struggle after Adobe releases an update to Lightroom, however the developers are very quick with bug fixes and pay attention to their active community on Facebook. Understandably it can be like playing a cat and mouse game with the latest releases but these rarely last more than a few hours or days before the drivers catch up - the hardware still works perfectly however there might be a function on a button which behaves differently but is never a show-stopper. The item is well made with tactile robust buttons, I've used in constantly for around 2 years now and not a single hardware fault. Maybe in the future if the cable has a fault the entire unit is useless, the cable isn't replaceable.
If you are a professional photographer and your time is important I can't stress how valuable this tool is. If I was a photographer who had to decide on yet another new lens or a Loupedeck+ then the Loupedeck wins hands down every time. If you've never used Lightroom and are daunted by learning editing software then just plug one of these in and edit away with no learning curve - I now dread going back to the slow and limiting editing process with a mouse. Editing in Lightroom with a Loupedeck is now the part of photography I look forward to the most as it allows me to experiment and enjoy the process.
