The 80-pound served me well. There was a tear in the shoulder strap similar to what another reviewer posted. I was okay with that because it was not going to come apart completely. Like I said, I used it nearly every day. My main complaint about the 80- was that the sand bags were so difficult to get in and out of the pockets that I never bothered to change the weight and just kept it about 65 pounds.
You can see in the pictures how much bigger the sand bags are. The 80- vest is much larger than the 100+. The steel weights are very easy to get in and out of the pockets. The sand bags are all 3 pounds. The steel ones are 3 and 1.5 pounds.
The 80- comes is one piece and has padded shoulders. It isn't adjustable and hangs at my waist and I'm 6'4". The 100+ comes in two pieces (pictured) and does not have pads in the shoulders. The 100+ is adjustable. I tried wearing it at the shortest setting but I couldn't reach the straps that go around you to secure it. I let it out maybe 3 inches front and back and now it sits a couple inches above my waist.
The 100+ is a much snugger fit which is great. The 80- was too loose to do push-ups with but I can use the 100+ for that no problem. I definitely prefer my new 100-pound vest over the older one. Obviously the price jumps up quite a bit when you go from 80 to 100 pounds. When I bought the 80 I think the 100 was about double the price of the 80 but right now the 100 is only $150. I think that's a pretty good deal for a versatile, durable piece of equipment that I'll use every day.
Even if you need less than 80 pounds the 100 pound vest better if you can handle the price. The main drawback for the 80- is how tight the weights fit in the pockets and the size. If you're a smaller person the 80-pound is going to be very large on you. I don't know if the lighter ones are just as big or not. They could be smaller and have fewer pockets. I suspect the 120 is exactly like the 100 because there are enough pockets to hold 46 three-pound weights. That would make the vest 138 pounds plus the weight of the vest which is probably about 5 pounds empty. So to truly be 150 pounds the vest would need 4 more pockets. Mine came with 103.5 pounds of weights-23 3-pound and 23 1.5-pound and there are 46 pockets but they will all take the 3-pound weights.
I'd give the 80-pound 4 stars because of the tight pockets. The 100-pound costs more but the advantages are worth it. Now if I can just keep it out of the reach of my cat....

My concerns turned out to be nothing. The vest was in great shape. All the sandbag weights were accounted for an without any leakages, holes or apparent weaknesses.
I don't know if there was supposed to be any kind of consumer oriented pamphlet of instructions and the usual inane or obvious safety warnings, but while there were a couple of slivers of papers with messages on them, I had to use my intuition to figure out how the sandbags go in and how the straps are supposed to be best put to use. Since it was pretty obvious how it was supposed to work, this turned out to be no big deal either.
The sandbags were a little difficult to get into the pouches at first. But after the first two bags, I figured out how to finesse them so they will go in efficiently. I'm glad they are a snug fit so I don't have to worry about each weight moving around while I try to exercise.
I'm not sure why the straps have such wildly different lengths. This wasn't necessarily a problem. The different lengths are more of a curiosity. Right now I don't feel much interference with my range of motion for what I want to do. I tried a few pushups, dips, step ups onto a jump box and squats and felt like I would enjoy using the vest for these. I felt like I should have tightened the straps a little bit more for doing pushups as gravity made the front of the vest hang down a bit and slightly impede the total range of motion and make the exercise feel a little bit awkward. I was in a hurry at the time , so I didn't follow up with the adjustment. I don't think there will be a problem with pushups though.
I even did some crunches. With the crunches I did feel like my range of motion was compromised, but I did the crunches on a whim. I never really saw the vest as something you used to augment crunches. I see the vest as better suited with planks. However, for the range of motion I did have, I did feel enough of a burn to wonder if I might get some benefit out of doing crunches with the vest.
Since the packaging aspect for the CAP product itself (the inner box of the delivery) was somewhat off putting, I rate the product a 4 start. But the vest itself is what I expected it to be and so far I am satisfied.
I use this for calisthenics / bodyweight exercises as an easy way to add some weight without messing with setting up bands / straps/ belts etc. You can snug it up enough that it doesn't flop around, but I'm not running or jumping with it.
I'm a little concerned about durability in that the fabric and elastic sections don't seem especially robust, but after a few months of use, there's no sign of actual material failure.
Top reviews from other countries
I consider it 'money well spent,' and recommend it.
Lastly, since this has been a big point of confusion regarding this product:
The weights included with the 50lb vest are STEEL BARS, not sand bags. For some reason, that question has been incorrectly answered, multiple times.
That aside, at this price, even if the vest was trash, it was worth it. Finding just pure weight at that cheap is nearly impossible. So the warnings people gave seemed silly. I don't expect the vest to last me years. It's going to be used and abused. There's only so much that fabric shoulders can do when carry that much weight.
So far, it's been perfect. Not as bulky as I was thinking after reading reviews. The 80lb version is very tight. An issue I have is lifting it over my head, with full weight. SO I have to take weights out to get it on, then it's too tight to put the weight back in. This is fine, as I was upgrading from wearing two vests with a combined 55lb weight, I didn't need to go straight to 80. So it just adds another strength workout.
The shoulder comfort is what you would expect. It didn't dig in and fairly well distributed. But at high weight, it chafes after a while. But again, the weight will do that.
The extra impact on my joints at 72 lbs is a lot. So I am thinking I will use it at 64 lbs. (it came with 20 x 4lb bags). To use the full 80lbs, I would need a system that puts some on my waist. But that's not the vests fault.
All-in-all, the vest is perfect. I can upgrade, slowly, adding weight as I can. It fits under my winter jacket, so I can brave -20, if they decide to plow side walks. And it adjusts easily. Very satisfied.
The weights are well made and fit just great in their individual pockets. As well, 30 lbs are more than enough weight for this vest and/or, any workout; it also has room available to add more weight if needed. DISLIKES: Not as much as a dislike but, as a point to improve. It could use a small holder/pocket on either side of the shoulder strap, to hold a small MP3, iPod or Cell phone in case the individual wants to listen to music during the workout/walk. I definitely like and recommend!
