Sixth month update: after 6 months the retaining spring that holds the caps down broke at the end with the very small hole that loops over the small pin at the bottom of the cap shaft. A $10 item. Probably covered by warranty but not worth the down time shipping back and forth. Also, the plastic guard over the cap feeder continues to fall off occasionally. This nailer continues to be a significant time-saver, no problems with nail or cap feed. Air pressure over 100 psi tends to blow the nails through the caps. The depth adjustment knob turns hard and this feature does not seem to have much effect on the nail setting, having to rely on air pressure adjustment to tune in correct nail depth settings.
Also, the bump action might work ok for housewrap, but for tarpaper on and 8/12 roof, it was not consistent enough to properly set the nails in the caps. I almost took a ride off the roof as I realized that a piece of paper I was standing on was starting to slide out from under me. After this, I used more nails and watched very closely to make sure the nails were being set properly. If not, I would shoot another until I felt confident that it would hold my weight.
Best practice is to locate studs, mark the board and fire 2.5" cap nails through insulation and into studs .
Originally tried using plastic sheet coil siding nails ... DON'T ... The plastic holds nails too loosely and even though this gun is rated for plastic, too many jams, and the plastic strip sucks since nails are held too loosely. Use wire welded coil nails , far superior to the plastic.
Yea this gun is $300 bucks, but when up on the ladder/scaffolding reaching to place nails you'll appreciate the time savings and ease, plus the weight builds up your arms for that manly appearance ... besides, when done, you can always sell it on Craigslist/Ebay if you don't need it anymore ... Buy this baby!
NOTE: This gun come standard as a "bump-Action" one step fire. ... meaning if you are holding the trigger the gun WILL fire when the contact tip is pressed against ANYTHING , including your leg, arm, dog, etc. It does come with a separate trigger that you will have to install yourself if you want the safer two step fire sequence.
I wanted to get the nailer rather than stapler for peace of mind. The roof is only dried-in right now. I checked in the attic for leaks this morning during a light rain and saw no leaks. Worth every penny!

I hope Bostitch improves on this. Being able to use it as a nailer is nice though.
