I have needed to replace pieces from time to time, which hasn't been too bad (and most of the pieces can be found for cheap on Amazon). In the time I've owned it, I've had to replace the black mesh tail scrubber every few months (which is expected), the zipper bag once because it had a hole in it (I'm about due for another one probably by the end of this year), the backup valve on the line once, the connector assembly once (I pulled too hard on the line and it broke off from the wall), and the swing axle once when I noticed a piece had broken off inside the zipper bag. I don't blame the engineering or fabrication of this cleaner for needing to replace these pieces-- I feel like leaving a cleaner in chlorinated water for months at a time is bound to have some pieces stop functioning properly from time to time.
With all that being said, my pool is always clean (no leaves or other muck on the bottom), and this cleaner has saved me many thousands of dollars that I would have otherwise spent on having a pool cleaning company clean the pool every 2 weeks.
Update:
Now that we have the cleaner for a while we can firmly reduce our rating from the previous three stars to one. It is a flawed design. I can list a lot of problems but will limit it to the important ones. First of all the little hose that wags to make the motion random wags very well but it has a very similar function to a dog tail. It wags but the dog goes in the same direction. It does not do anything. This means that the device motion is not really random at all. In fact I can draw the motion from one end of the pool to the other inch by inch and it is very consistent.. So, the end that has a couple of small steps that are vertical (like all steps) serves the device very nicely as a break which lasts about 80% of the time at least leaving it to move to the other end for the other 20% of the time. That means it is 25% efficient at best. One may say so what? when the device stays and stuck at the same point for so long, it rubs the wheels in the floor which results in a very rapid wear and tear. The people at Leslie's pool suggested some plastic pipes or something to block it from going to those places. I tried that and it gets stuck on that too. The bottom line is, the way the motion and the shape of the front makes an awkward device that is farthest from a hydro dynamic shape. I strongly recommend against it.
