Use Pencils Wet or Dry

Combine the control of a pencil with the beauty of watercolor. You can use dampened paper to obtain bright colors with soft edges, or a wetted pencil tip to create rich, textured lines. The pencils will retain their full intensity, however you choose to use them.

Layer to Make Unique Blends

Due to the softer formulation, the pigments transfer to paper more quickly. This allows you to easily blend and layer colors together to create a range of unique effects, from bold, vibrant colors to delicate watercolor washes.

Adjust Shades By Adding Water

Create flowing watercolor effects with the versatile pigments. As the colors are not permanent, you can use water to move and adjust the color again and again, even after it has dried. Customize colors by adding more water, which allows you to create muted, watercolor washes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality set, with lovely coverage when wet.
Reviewed in the United States on August 23, 2020
Getting down to the most important thing first - what do they look like? I've swatched the pencils in the pic with their corresponding numbers, and used one or two strokes with plain water on an acrylic brush down to show the basic colour for each. The photo was taken on artist quality paper, under a natural light lamp.

My thoughts- These pencils react better than expected. They are very smooth to draw with - better than most mid price pencils in my opinion, and reacted beautifully with water.

There are perhaps two shades of pink and the three yellows that I feel didnt have enough pigment, but perhaps I needed to do stronger swatches as well. They appear to layer well, so I don't think it's a true deficiency.

Using the chinese white (#72) on white paper, it becomes nearly invisible, so it is a good background white. (I unfortunately did not swatch it over black.) The ivory black pencil (#67) is good and strong, with a nice transparency - similar to a lamp black in a regular palette.

I also tested lifting them off paper after they've dried, and while I wasn't able to get the paper back to white, I was able to lift the majority of the pigment. Perfect for adding highlights!

Lastly, if you like to experiment with salt blooms - I was unable to get a good effect, so you may want to stick with regular watercolours if you enjoy that.

I think for the price point, these are good quality and satisfying pencils. Whether you're an established artist or a beginner, I think it's a nice set.
