Before You Break Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 678 ratings

Six years ago, Ellis walked into his first briefing as the newest member of London's specialist firearms unit. He was partnered with Wayne, and they became fast friends. When Wayne begins to notice changes - Ellis’s erratic temper, the effects of sleep deprivation - he knows he has to act before Ellis reaches his breaking point.

He invites Ellis to the opening of the new BDSM club, Secrets, where Wayne has a membership. His purpose? He wants Ellis to glimpse the lifestyle before Wayne approaches him with a proposition. He wants to take Ellis in hand, to control his life because he wants his friend back, and he figures this is the only way to do it.

There are a few issues, however. Ellis is straight. Stubborn. And sexy. Wayne knows he has to put his own feelings aside to be what Ellis needs. What surprises the hell out of him is finding out what Ellis actually requires.

My Puppy Pile Three Musketeers are back !!!
I'm so much happy to meet them again (even only just a little).
Thank you..thank you... (please bring them back more, though...please)

This book could be considered as Collars & Cuffs' season 2, but it's taken place at Secrets in London.
Our charming couple (my second favourite) from [Dom of Ages] has started their new life here
and of course with new group of clients.

The main story is for Wayne and Ellis.
The book's introduction is very interesting, but after I actually read about Ellis' problem, I just wonder is there really a matter like this?
I mean, if the family came from somewhere in the middle east or some country in Asia I would totally understand. Because their really is 'belief? tradition?' like this. But it does'n seems like that.. so a bit confuse here.

And although I understand Mr.Williams's 'theme' for [True Love needs some sacrifice], but I still think it's too much for one of the main characters here.
Well, by the end result I do understand why you need to set the story like this, though.

One more thing that I'd like to comment here is that while I do love the story's beautiful writing,
I think there is too much details where there's no need to be, like: *he place the cup on the table
and place the spoon near them, and then stand up, ready his shirt, took out his key...etc.*
(*this's not the exact paragraph from the book, just the feel of the style)
Sorry I thought it's a bit too much details when it doesn't have any effect to the story.

But as the whole, I's so happy for the release of this book.
It's beautiful, it's good and with high quality of work.
Can't wait for the 2nd one.

And oh!
Congratulations Scott!!!

I had a hard time accepting that Ellis would allow his estranged father so much control over his life but since I've never been close to mine it's probably too foreign a concept. I liked their relationship and the BDSM aspect was nicely done.

This was an excellent start to the Collars & Cuffs spin-off. Eli and Jared have moved to London and have opened their own club.

One of my favorite tropes in BDSM romance is when a Dom introduces a naturally submissive partner into the lifestyle. In this book, Ellis was burning himself out trying to be everything for everyone. His only foundation was Wayne, his best friend, and fellow cop. When Ellis reaches the end of his rope, it's Wayne who takes their friendship to the next level as he introduces rules, discipline, and punishments to help Ellis find his center.

I loved both Wayne and Ellis in this story. Both men were very strong characters and they each went through a lot of growth as they found strength in trusting one another. I loved how easily they were able to shift from platonic friends to lovers, and yet keep the camaraderie that six years of friendship provided.

Although it was well written, this book wasn't for me. I would have rated it two stars for my personal enjoyment of the book, but it seemed a little unfair to the author. I mean, it's a novel featuring a gay couple who are in a dominant/submissive relationship - it seems unfair to reduce my rating because I didn't enjoy the dom/sub aspect of it. But I didn't. And I was unable to give it more than three stars.

For me, a relationship has to be equal. These two were equals at work, equals in strength, etc. They were not equals in their relationship. To me, it seemed that Wayne didn't see Ellis as an equal. Instead, Wayne felt superior, smarter, more of an 'adult', and he patronised Ellis. I felt like it was more like a parent/child relationship than one of equals. This was emphasised by the way Wayne addressed Ellis as 'boy' and made Ellis call him 'Sir'.

I also felt like the last third of the book was an extended epilogue. The book just kept going and going and going... I was so over it by the time I finally finished.

This story of Wayne and Ellis feels like an extension of the Collars and Cuffs series. Jarod and Eli (From Collars and Cuffs) have moved to London to take over a BDSM club that had been on the decline. Wayne was a member of the club before the revitalization of it. Ellis is Wayne's work partner and best friend. Ellis is also incapable of saying no to anyone who asks anything of him, and as a result, his life is spiraling out of control. Wayne's solution is to 'take Ellis in hand' and basically run his life. There are a few twists and turns in the plot to keep things interesting. The dynamic between Wayne and Ellis is both affectionate and loving like best friends, but eventually hot as things turn in that direction. There were some serious moments in the book that really brought the mood down, but we still end with a HEA.

For Collars and Cuffs fans, this book is the one we've been waiting for. It is a phenomenal start to the new series about Secrets, the club that Eli and Jarrod have opened in London. The book, as all by these authors, has a wonderful mix of BDSM, angst, love, and insanely hot scenes. The only negative is that as soon as you read it, you will be dying to get a hold of the second one. Hopefully, we will get a second installment soon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wayne and Ellis are like the best couple ever0

Wayne and Ellis are like the best couple ever. I found this book before I knew of the Collars & Cuffs series but the side characters of Jarod and Eli were so supporting of the couple and Jarod helped Ellis understand what being a submissive meant.
This story reminds me a bit of The Sergeant by Christa Tomlinson in the fact that the characters are both cops, the sub is new to the scene and there is a BDSM club and one of the characters gets hurt.
I'm not saying either author copied from each other cus a lot of books are the same now a days.
I loved how the author showed the depth of feelings they had for one another even before they became a couple. Nothing was rushed in this novel, it flowed at an easy pace and I rather read books like that than ones that have everything jumbled up.
I recommend this book...first time reading this author and I'm impressed. ..I think I found another favorite or at least one that I know I'll like.

5.0 out of 5 stars And so it continuous .... after Collars and Cuffs by K.C. Wells/Parker Williams

I don’t like to judge books, because my taste is different than other readers taste. I buy books because their excerpt/blurb intrigues me.
But I love this book and the story it tells and can recommend it. The same goes for the other books in this series.
I hope you enjoy them like I did and check out the new series "Secrets" by the same author.
