Works great, but don't underestimate the importance of cooling water.
5 Stars
Works great, but don't underestimate the importance of cooling water.
These just arrived and I immediately put them to use. I needed to drill a 40mm hole for electrical conduit in a terracotta block. I used an off-brand 12 volt li-ion drill running slow and supplied lots of cooling water with a little watering can. I stopped several times to dip the bit in water and it still took less than ten minutes. Worked like a charm and the bit feels like it still has almost all of it's grit on it.The block was 7/8 inch thick. The description says the max is 1/2 inch but the holes in the side of the bit allowed water to get inside the bit and into the cutting area just fine. I did pull it out more frequently and flushed the debris from the hole with water as it got deeper than 1/2 inch, though.Edit: When I drilled the hole in the other side of that block I had to do so from inside a cramped crawlspace where I had limited space and was unable to use the watering can. i had to use a very small container to dump the water (It was impossible to apply a steady stream of water). I tried to somewhat make up for that by dipping the bit in water every ten seconds or so to cool it.The drilling went much slower than the first hole and toward the end the grit was almost gone. Don't underestimate the importance of water to cool the bit and flush grinding debris away. I'm still happy with the bits. If I had been able to apply more water I firmly believe the bit would have performed as well as it did on the first hole.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent for the price
Reviewed in the United States on December 23, 2017
I renovated our kids bath and decided to lay 12" porcelain wall tile around the perimeter of the bathroom and in the tower surround. Porcelain tile is really tough to cut. The bath has two sinks, john, and tub/shower. Plus towel bars, etc. All these needed holes drilled through the tile. I bought some diamond drill bits at lowes, which all broke on me. They were danged expensive. The problem is I have a variety of sized holes to drill for 1/2 & 3/4 pipe, 1/8 OD pipe, screw holes, etc. I decided to give these a shot given the price. I am really glad that I did. This bit just kept on going. Nice clean cuts (see photo). The key was to keep the drill on a relatively slow speed and use a spray bottle to keep it wet. I had 7 holes to drill for 1/2 pipe (Actually had to drill 9 b/c of two miss measurements :-)). Each takes a few minutes to cut through the porcelain (which is even tough to cut with my tile saw with a diamond blade). But, it gave a nice clean cut. Granted, I am a do-it your-selfer - not a pro. I have another bath to renovate. I'll be able to use this bit set to get that done as well. Then I let them rest, hopefully for a long time!
