The storm of the century is about to hit Little Bridge Island, Florida—and it’s sending waves crashing through Sabrina “Bree” Beckham’s love life…

When a massive hurricane severs all power and cell service to Little Bridge Island—as well as its connection to the mainland—twenty-five-year-old Bree Beckham isn’t worried . . . at first. She’s already escaped one storm—her emotionally abusive ex—so a hurricane seems like it will be a piece of cake.

But animal-loving Bree does become alarmed when she realizes how many islanders have been cut off from their beloved pets. Now it’s up to her to save as many of Little Bridge’s cats and dogs as she can . . . but to do so, she’s going to need help—help she has no choice but to accept from her boss’s sexy nephew, Drew Hartwell, the Mermaid Café’s most notorious heartbreaker.

But when Bree starts falling for Drew, just as Little Bridge’s power is restored and her penitent ex shows up, she has to ask herself if her island fling was only a result of the stormy weather, or if it could last during clear skies too.

A huge Hurricane is about to hit the small Florida Island of Little Bridge. Sabrina “Bree” Beckham decides not to evacuate as well as some of the locals, Including Drew, the nephew of her boss at The Mermaid Cafe. Bree wasn’t worried… at first. Until the storm started sending crashing waves into her love life. ⁣⁣The massive hurricane cuts all cell service and power to the island. That means Bree will no longer be bombarded with texts from her celebrity mother, or her emotionally abusive ex who keep trying to get her to leave the island. ⁣⁣But Bree becomes alarmed when she realizes how many beloved pets have been left behind by locals who have evacuated, and makes it her mission to feed every single one of them. But she can’t do it alone, so she has no choice but to let Drew, the sexy heartbreaker, ride on the back of her moped around the island. ⁣⁣But soon the power is back on, and her ex shows up. Bree must decide if her stormy fling with Drew can last during clearer skies too. ⁣⁣I grew up reading Meg Cabot books so I was super excited to be able to get my hands on this one! I read it in one sitting! I love the idea of the locals having a “Hurricane Party” and coming together as a community to wether the storm together. This is a fairly easy, and quick read with some mild steamy content! I really liked Bree. She was determined to make her own way and get a fresh start after some traumas in her life left her at a standstill. Drew was also a cocky confident guy but he was sweet to Bree. And he also had a bunch of dogs, who couldn’t love that! My favorite though was Bree’s cat Gary! ⁣⁣Thank you to @williammorrowbooks / @netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review

I thoroughly enjoyed her writing. Her descriptions of the island, the homes, the landscape, flowers and trees put them perfectly in my mind. I could envision everything. I too fell in love with the island and the locals there. Small town people who do actually care for their friends and neighbors. I am a pet lover too and it filled my heart with love for how they pitched in to take care of others pets after the hurricane. I’ve never been through a hurricane but the way she described everything as it was happening made me feel like I was going through it with them. I read this book in one day, had to know what was going to happen and how it ended. Totally recommend this book!

I had never read a Meg Cabot book, so I went into this book very blind. I won't lie I was sure it would be a just okay/work day distraction read for me, but I was wrong. I ate this book up. I'm not sure if it's because I listened to the audiobook or what but I was pulled into this book from the first chapter. I needed to know what was going to happen with this hurricane. I really like Bree and Drew main characters. Bree had an interesting background which played a big part in the story (the end got a little cheesy/far fetched regarding her background). Drew also had an interesting background, lots of things were stated about his past, but I don't honestly think they served much of a purpose in the long run. One thing I really wished the bookbhad was duel POV. I would have loved to know where Nick's head was. This was kind of an instalovey which isn't my favorite. I wish there was a little more time between "oh this guy isn't so bad" and I'm in love with you. As far as chemistry I would say I felt it between the main characters, and because I was going on very little (like the fact that Meg Cabot wrote The Princess Diaries) I was surprised by the steam level in this book. Now it wasn't over the top, but it was there and it was done well in my opinion. As far as secondary characters we do meet the hero of the next book, and establish a lot of the town people. I actually loved all the secondary characters. The teenage girls being my favorites surprisingly. I've seen quite a few negative reviews of this book and I don't get it. I really enjoyed my time in this world. I finished this book in 24 hours and immediately picked up book two.

A quick & easy summer read that kept my attention. I found the ending very anticlimactic & many parts were overly cringy, but it entertained me for a few hours, nonetheless.

I love this book! It was very romantic at some parts. And, I thought the Little Bridge Island Book Festival sounded terrific.

Fun, beach read. Some slight twists to keep it interesting. I'm a fan of Meg Cabot, I do prefer the "size 12 isn't fat" series but I still enjoyed this too.

when buying this book i thought i found an amazing gem but sadly found that it is very slow paced. I did not prefer the main character and found myself feeling like i was forcing myself to finish the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Bridge Island series, hot and steamy at the Florida Keys. V1.01

Little Bridge Island series.

Day 1
Time 8.18 AM
Temperature 82 F
Wind Speed 6MPH
Wind Gust 0 MPH
Precipitation 0.0 in.

This series has been getting some poor reviews and now that I have read them I have to wonder why. Meg Cabot aka Patricia Cabot aka Jenny Carroll started off writing really okay steamy hot historical fiction type romance. Then she moved to really okay SF horror YA fiction. Then she added stories for kids via such as Allie Finkle.

My favourites are the Size 12 series, set at the boundary between YA and grown up fiction. Also the All American Girl YA series. Also the Notebooks series for children. I particularly like how Notebooks has hero Olivia being so much more sensible than Mia, that makes me prefer Notebooks to Princess Diaries, though Diaries 11 does introduce Olivia.

This particular series is pleasantly steamy romance in the Florida Keys, set at the boundary between YA and grown up fiction. If a mum purchased this thinking that it was a story for her little ones, that might not work out too well.

Day 2
Time 1.36 PM
Temperature 84 F
Wind Speed 24 MPH
Wind Gust 44 MPH
Precipitation 0.3 in.

The stories in the series each centre on two different characters on the island. YA age characters are also playing a part. Romance is starting to blossom for each pair. The first is a short story, early summer. Then romance in a Florida Summer storm. Then a librarian’s Autumn romance in the tropics. Not a waste of time, if you go for this type of story. Having just finished No Words, set at a January book festival, I am liking this series more and more.

Day 2
Time 7.18 PM
Temperature 77 F
Wind Speed 65 MPH
Wind Gust 115 MPH
Precipitation 3.3in.

Meg Cabot is my favorite author and I had been waiting for this book for a long time! I tried to read it slowly, but simply couldn't! Bree's story is fascinating and Meg Cabot's writing never disappoints! If you like romantic comedies you will definitely lovr this book!

2.0 out of 5 stars Einfach und manchmal ein bisschen kitschig
Reviewed in Germany on December 20, 2019

4.0 out of 5 stars Uma história divertida e envolvente!

Bem legal!
