These wipes would be great for little crafts or small touch-ups, but we aware the stain is extremely thick which makes it somewhat difficult to apply and takes a lot of reworking to make it look nice. I used it to touch up a stained piece of furniture that was a similar color originally. I sanded the piece lightly and didn’t remove most of the original finish, then I used these wipes across the entire surface of the furniture. I used quite a few wipes because I was unhappy with how thick and blotchy the stain applied initially.

I ended up finding the method that worked best was to wipe down the whole area with the stain then wipe down the whole area with a damp rag, then wipe down the area with the stain again and repeat until you achieve the desired finish. This helped to thin out the stain a bit to get a more even finish and I’m very happy with the results! If you don’t need a whole can of stain, this is a great option, but it’s not entirely mess-free and you WILL get it all over your hands unless you wear a decent pair of gloves (although I will say it washes off the skin very easily with a little soap and scrubbing).

I am a professional refinisher for 30 years. I bought this to do a wood top I made and just needed a one time use, not a can to sit around and go bad not using what's left.
That said, this product is too thick, and dries too fast. After you apply it, you have to wipe off excess. The top is only 16 inch by 28 inch. I did half at a time. It only takes seconds to wipe it on the half, but by the time I go to wipe off excess, it's already dry. Covering up the wood grain. I had to use a rag soaked in alcohol to wipe off excess and expose the grain. Regulat alcohol will work, denatured alcohol is better. Acetone will also work. A regular person won't know how to compensate for the extra thick, super fast drying problem like I do.
I suggest doing a 6x6 inch spot at a time, and quickly wipe away excess. When you've done the whole thing, go back with rag soaked in alcohol and wipe the whole thing again, blending in the area's of overlap.
It can come out a little blotchy even with these steps. Use sanding sealer prior to stain to get more even absorption.
Stain should be very runny like water. This is too thick. Maybe past it's shelf life.

These rock. For sanding down old tables and using to refurbish or doing small projects, it’s such an easy clean up. The cloths last a long time. They are highly saturated. The price is worth it. It doesn't show any grain in trhe wood. It's more like smearing on paint but it's tougher than paint and
it does cover the wood wear and marks well. I sealed mine as well because the first time I used this product it was on a wooden bathroom vanity top. Every soap mark or good wiping to clean the top, took off the 'stain'. I think sealing it will help that.

I should have known better—there are no shortcuts in wood finishing. I carve decorative paddles as a hobby and have used 'canned' or liquid Minwax stains almost exclusively. I usually sand the wood to a smooth finish with 600 grit, then finish with one coat of their liquid stain, applied with a soft brush. Once dry, I follow with a wet sanding with an even finer grit, then a second coat, then furniture wax, and I've always been pleased with the result; smooth finish, consistent colouring, very clear, minimal dripping, etc.

Today, I tried their all-in-one wood finish cloths and even as I was applying the product (as per their instructions), it was clear that the result would be less than acceptable. The product does not go on smoothly. It's inconsistent and provides poor penetration relative to their usual liquid products.

I suppose if I needed an all-in-one finish on a picnic table for the back deck, I might recommend it - but then again, it's only for interior use.

I'd love to stay and chat, but I can see that a re-sanding job will be needed. At best, I think I will only get a 'distressed' look from my attempt at salvaging this paddle.

I recommend avoiding this product if you're looking for a quality finish. Sorry, Minwax. I can't believe they charge $27 for this third rate product. Maybe I'll try to send it back for a refund.
