The Relentless Warrior Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
The Relentless Warrior is book six in the Star-Crossed Series.
Jericho Bentley is disillusioned by life. He feels lost in a world of peace and restless in a time threatened by war. He has given up on love, forgotten how to trust others, and decided a lifetime of bachelorhood is all that remains for him.
Olivia Taylor was struggling to find her way in a human world. Now taken from the only life she's ever known and changed on a molecular level, she is more lost than ever. With her sister struggling to survive the aftereffects of one of Dmitri Terletov's experiments, Olivia sets off with Jericho to find a cure for both herself and her sister. Together, Jericho and Olivia find more than vengeance and answers; they find a deep friendship that might teach them both to trust again. Maybe even to love again. As long as they can both put the hurt of their past behind them for good.

Now onto the fangirliness. I never had desires or expectations for Jericho's inevitable soulmate, but Olivia was spot on. She was hilarious, feisty, a bit damaged, both beautifully strong and vulnerable at the same time. And I loved how down to earth she was!! I've never been much of a fashion/makeup girl, so I never quite cared about all of that with the other Star-Crossed heroines, so to have one that was more like me was dream come true.
And holy toledo, the steam factor..... I...I just....wow. The pool? OMG. Seriously. There are no words.
As usual, loved the action and forward motion in the Terletov storyline. I did feel like some of that got rushed at times, and that's where this book lost the half a star. SPOILER: I hadn't really had a chance to reconnect with any of the captured characters before they were killed, and so it wasn't as impactful as I guess I felt it could have been. And little things like Eden and Kiran being detained at the end, but then just escaping....it was kind of anti-climatic. END SPOILER So yeah. Loved it, but felt a bit short changed at the end there. Super excited to see how it all wraps up with Sebastian's story....he was off for me in the book, so I can't help but wonder what is going on with him.
So in conclusion, if you've loved the Star-Crossed series thus far, you will love this next installment. It had all the factors that make Rachel Higginson books fabulous, including (and my secret favourite part) the humour. ENJOY!!!
I loved reading what Jericho was thinking, it was so amusing at times. This series is amazing! It had me laughing, crying, I was so engrossed that I wanted to take a day off from work to just read, read, and read! I hope there is another book, maybe about Olivia's sister and one of the boys.
I wanted to love this and Jericho so very much. The love story with Olivia just felt too rushed... or something. I just didn't find myself caring or rooting for them, and I think Jericho deserved that kind of love so that was a little sad for me (I was really sucked into the first four books so felt pretty attached to the characters). What I found most off putting was that for every one page of actual dialogue and action, there were three of internal musings about how beautiful and perfect the other was or what felt like justifications of their choices. I actually just skipped several pages or paragraphs and don't feel at all like I missed anything. I think these stories have so much promise and were set up so perfectly it's hard to understand how it's come to this.
Sebastian's story is next and he was absolutely my favorite secondary character, I was looking forward to his story the most. At this point, I'm not even sure if I care enough to find out what happens now. If it comes out this year, then I will probably read it and I will be hoping the author can recapture that magic and world she brilliantly created in the first four.

One thing I liked in particular was that Jericho doesn't try to baby Olivia. While he wants to protect her, he understands that she can look after herself and can stand alongside him in battle. Olivia herself is a good strong character however she still has a vulnerable side and is not afraid to look to Jericho for comfort and support.
All in all another great instalment in the star crossed series and I look forward to reading the Redeemable Prince.
I always knew there was more to Jericho and I'm glad that Rachel choose to tell his story. Olivia is more than a match for him and I fell in love with them both. There are a few gentle reminders of what has happened before which has now made me think I need to read them all again.
If you are a Rachel Higginson fan already then this is another brilliant read! If not welcome to the AWESOME world of writing that is Rachel Higginson!!!!
