Initial perceptions of this vacuum are good, very good.
Suction. Let's face it, this is what vacuums are all about. The suction on this vacuum is second to none. I've used many brands of vacuums over the years, LG, Dyson, Bissel, Eureka, Dirt Devil, Shark, etc. This vacuum tops them all.
Cleaning Carpets. We have two fluffy dogs that shed year round. This vacuum picked up all the fur on the carpet in one single pass. No repeating. No other vacuum I've owned has been able to accomplish this. The LG was good but still required two passes to get it all. The Hoover Pro is the first vacuum that didn't require being on the lowest setting to work. In fact, with this vacuum set on low pile, it was nearly impossible to move due to the sheer force of the suction! I recommend starting off on the medium setting, which cleaned my carpets perfectly.
Bare floors. Again, excellent. With the Hoover Pro, you finally have a Hoover that you can shut off the roller brush. So it doesn't shoot the dirt under the vacuum at you like every other vacuum I've ever owned has. Love seeing the fur dust bunnies sucked towards the vacuum before rolling over it. It pulls in dust and dirt from the crevices and corners easily.
Hand tools: The extending wand is a nice touch. Wish it was longer for cleaning up high. They are sufficient for cleaning along base boards, etc. The brush and hand tool both work fairly well too.
Noise level: Pretty good here. Not as quiet as the LG we had, but much quieter than any Hoover we've ever owned before.
Cord: The auto rewind features very cool, but you have to attach and detach the cord from the clip under the handle each time. Needs better engineering design to be more useful. The cord length is ok. A little shy of 30 feet. Wish it was a touch longer. 40' would be awesome.
General construction and quality. Very good. Well built. Feels durable and solid. Not to heavy though. Good balance. Nice that the roller brush turns off when you stand it up to use the hose and attachments. It's only hard to roll around if you set it to low due to the massive amount suction.
Overall, I give this five stars.

After approximately a year and a half of average use, the handle split and then completely broken in half right where the upholstery attachment is stored. Very disappointing.
