The X15D product quality is everything I'd hoped for. Very easy to use and nice image quality. It has a thoughtful simple intuitive setup. I typically hate remotes, but this one is really simple, easy, small, and actually useful. I like that it allows to rotate and delete individual photos with remote--the ones you catch after its up and running. Image quality is good as advertised when compared with my laptop and other screens (the "D" stands for HD which I think is 1080). The image is pleasantly view-able from very wide angles. I notice a slight/subtle color change when viewing it from greater than 60 degrees from straight on, which stays about the same out to 80 degrees from straight on viewing (viewed from the side). The screen surface appears to be a light matte finish nicely minimizing glare. The controls allow for all the normal screen color brightness, contrast, hue...adjustments etc but mine looked good in a room full of windows with the factory default settings, which were all centered: unlike some other products I've purchased that come with brightness at full to look normal, this screen has some reserve.
We bought this for my mom who is in her 80's who needs a no fuss bigger screen to see all the family photos, that will turn on and off a preset times as she lives in a one room apartment retirement community. But we liked this one so much we will be buying another of the same size.
A mistake I made was thinking this had an timer on / off function (turns out you can add it easily for free with firmware upgrade). I figured I'd call customer support anyway to see if a firmware update had addressed it and it had. Jeff in customer support walked me through the entire surprisingly easy process. Go to the Nixplay (your screen here x15D https://support.nixplay.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003131986) Firmware update and download your frames firmware to a USB. Turn off your screen with manual switch. Plug in the USB with new firmware. Turn screen on, option to update firmware shows up on screen, use remote to select update firmware. It took about 15 seconds to update the firmware. Then turn off screen and unplug device from wall (I had to unplug from wall to get new drivers to load). Replace firmware USB with your Photo USB, replug into wall and turn screen back on. Your done. It even saved all my clock settings...Then in setup go to the Sleep column. Note: Start time is for start of sleep. And End time is for end of sleeping. I did it backwards and it took me a while to figure out why it wasn't working.
You can find your needed firmware version in the frame Menu at bottom under "About". Note my screen was X15D-01 (you need to know if it is -01,-02, or -03 product), and my old firmware was version 1.18. The new firmware was version 1.39 from June or July of 2017. Also note the only way I could get the screen out of the "About" section was to manually turn the screen off and then on (a bug). Later learned that the return button on remote works back pushing the screen button does not. The new firmware with timer on/off functions also had a few other nice adds such as more choices on how long to show a photo or how long to sleep were added.
So Pleased, we are going to buy another second one for ourselves. The only remaining question is how long will it last, as there are not a bunch of reviews with dead photo frames I feel pretty good about that too.
After being frustrated with my previous frames inability to handle the number of pictures I wanted displayed (despite being well within the memory allotment – see below) I took a chance on purchasing this frame. The info online and reviews seemed promising, that this frame could display the thousands of family photos spanning generations as well as my photos from traveling. The 18.5” size seemed excessive, but this was one of the only frames I found that met my capacity requirements. After having the frame I love the screen and I don’t even bother to turn on my 10” 720p frame anymore.
Comes with:
1. Frame
2. 16 Gb USB flash drive
3. Power cord (not battery operated)
4. ring stand
5. Manual
6. Remote with battery
Setup:
Setup was very easy, I simple plugged the USB drive into my computer, opened the drive (via 'My Computer') and dragged the folders with my pictures into the window. There is a comment in the manual about not creating too many subfolders as it slows loading time - I have all pictures in 1 to 2 subfolders deep and have no issues.
It appears the frame can be hung/mounted/free-standing (via ring) in either landscape or portrait. Mine is in landscape as most of my pictures are in that orientation.
Unlike many other cheaper frames, whose processor/software limits them to either 500 or 1000 pictures, this frame holds thousands, I currently have over 9000 photos loaded (~13Gb of the included memory). This may seem confusing at first, all frames advertise memory card size, but regardless of memory card size many frames can only handle a pre-set total number of pictures. Often this number is hard to find. My last frame (10" Micca) could only handle 1000 pictures total despite being able to accept a 16GB card. I loaded 3000 pictures onto the card (for which there was plenty of room), but only the first 1000 picture are ever displayed, despite any randomization options. I do not know what the limit is to this Nix frame but it's greater than 9,000. I will try to update once I have attempted to load more than 10K photos. Additional there is a SD card expansion slot which I have not yet used.
Usage:
The frame must be plugged in to operate (no battery option). I have not yet tried the motion sensor, I simply turn the frame on when I am home in the evenings. The viewing angle is excellent: with the frame on my fireplace mantle and it can be viewed from sitting on the couch, standing, and positioned from both ends of the room (Images become a little less clear while sitting on the floor - if that gives you an idea of max viewing angle). The screen brightness is adjustable and can be changed via the remote to be appropriate however my living room is lit. The remote also allows rotation of pictures, for those few that somehow ended up in the wrong orientation.
The display order options are somewhat limited. The randomization is poor, despite having over 9000 pictures loaded I would see duplicates over the course of dinner. Currently I have the frame to play pictures in order to prevent seeing duplicates (*please NIX improve your randomization algorithm*).
The default setting for display is ‘optimal’ which stretches the pictures to fit the frame (and prevent the black bars on the sides of the vertical pictures). Even on landscapes the distortion is noticeable and for pictures of people it is excessive. Simple switch the frame to display as ‘original’ – you get the black bars on the size, but the pictures look great. My photos are a mix of >8 cameras from cell phones to scans of old polaroids to Canon Rebel SLR. All display well.
Summary:
Pros:
The image quality and viewing angle are excellent. Based on the current price the value is excellent.
The included 16Gb stick and indexing capacity are above what most users need (or any other frame offers).
The setup is easy and hanging methods are versatile.
Cons:
The randomization of pictures is sub par.

Llego mucho tiempo antes de lo esperado!
A couple things to consider before purchasing/using. You must plug it in and it must sit on a shelf (as opposed to hanging it on a wall). It sits upright horizontally using a base that’s built in. Controls are built into the base which is handy for setting it up. It does come with a remote, but we haven’t had much use for it as of yet.
The device does not have internal memory, so your pictures are contained on an SD card or USB portable device. One design “issue” I spotted was the ports for the devices are on the back of the stand. No big deal, except flimsy SD cards or long USB flash drives can be broken if you’re not careful. One tip: get one of those stubby USB flash drives (called “ultra fit” on Amazon) and use it to hold your files. It barely protrudes and safely holds the viewer files.
