I purchased the 5040ube as soon as it came out in hopes that it would be great even though there were no real reviews on it yet. Well now that I have a few hours in on this thing I can confirm.... It's awesome! The things I was previously worried about like fan noise are all but a distant memory now as in a normal movie watching mode this thing is nearly dead silent. Setup on this thing is dead simple and the picture looked great right out of the box with just a small adjustment to the focus which took all of 30 seconds. The picture on this thing is amazingly sharp even when watching things on directv like football, even better when you are feeding it actual 4k content. I have had a previous projector (a dlp made by Optoma) but this thing is far and away better. This thing is very bright with really good black levels and does well in a lit room and amazing in a darkened room. The 4k upscaling of shows is great and even viewing 120inches from 11 feet the picture is incredibly sharp and bright. Most impressive of all I have been watching this so far on a silver painted wall and I am still blown away (screen on order). One thing to note, this thing is a big projector and it is probably a matter of taste whether you will like that or not. My wife was initially turned off by it's size and said it was too big to go where I wanted it to (heard it before.....lol), but after she saw the performance of this monster she was amazed and quickly changed her mind about it (also, not the first time). As for other people, they have remarked things like "now THAT is a real projector" and "when you said you were getting a projector, I expected a little home model, this looks like a professional theater projector!" Not that this thing is too big to ceiling mount/ go up on the wall but I think it's only fair for you to know it's not a small office projector or as small as the ones Best Buy tries to pass off as a true movie projectors. I haven't tried 3d or the wireless Hdmi but I will update my review once I do. I've only gamed on it for a moment with call of duty black ops 3 and it seemed good with lag, I certainly didn't notice lag affecting my gaming, I'll update this as well once I've played more. All in all I think I can say that if you are on the fence and have the budget for this one you aren't likely to find anything remotely close performance wise in this price bracket for some time.
