Small boiling machine, well built and amazingly lightweight
Very lightweight cooking Set. The stand is well built and designed-as it should for any Japanese manufacture, maybe a bit flimsy but it can be understood because of the main purpose of it, which is to be a light support to your cookset and to boost the Stove flame, giving it the precise distance to the bottom of the pot. Once it blooms it takes about 4-5 min to boil 500ml of water at 24C at 500mt elev. I have been using this as a minimalist alternative to my reliable gourmet MSR Dragonfly for 1 to 3 nights solo Alpine style treks in the central Andes and it performs very well even between 2000 to 4000 mt altitude and at a range of -15C to 25C (altitude and temp obviously affect the stove efficiency). I must say this is not a cooking set and with no simmering ring I only use it to boil water for tea, fast soups and lyophilized meals. I store it inside my Toaks TI 750ml pot and it protects it from bending or crushing inside my backpack. I have to mention that the alcohol fuel is a much more environmentally friendly alternative to any other gas-fuel stove, which I like a lot. Overall this is a small boiling machine, well built, amazingly lightweight and very sturdy considering its weight.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very light and capable

I thought I would never prefer another kitchen setup to my solo stove, trangia, and snow peak pot set. But I did and shaved a bunch of weight in the process. I primarily use alcohol with this setup, but do use the twig fire option about 20% of the time. And it's nice knowing that I can use an Esbit in a pinch which I always have as a backup.
Combine this lightweight setup with the Titanium Toaks pot with bail handle and you have a complete winner.
I did make a wind shield out of a thin sheet of titanium and just trimmed it to size. I also discovered that a 2oz Nalene bottle fits perfectly inside the stove and holds enough for boiling 4 cups of water..
That power plate actually works to my surprise. In my tests without it I got 25% less out of the same fuel. It seems to capture the heat and deliver it it more efficiently up against the pot.
Another thing I was really surprised at is just how quickly this cools down after use and glowing red. You can handle it under a minute after it was red.
I would have said the price was the only negative. But I am pulling that back as I believe this thing is well worth every penny and the seemingly high price at first is quickly replaced with an appreciation for the great design, versatility, lightweight, and performance :-)
Have a great day.

Do I need this? No. I've got a few other stoves for hiking and camping. Did I want it? Yes. First impressions: the lightest of my various stove sets, and while I don't really care how long it takes for water to boil on a stove while I'm out in nature, I couldn't help but test boil time for 500ml of water in an aluminium alloy pot (less than 4 minutes). This stove set will get a lot of use (hopefully) and that's how we justify the price of things, no?
