Pros:
+Perfect tracking at high speeds; in order to get this mouse to experience a tracking failure, you'd need to move the mouse more than 5.4 meters in a second; good luck with that.
+Anti-slip coating is a huge plus. Your mouse will look a little gross, but rubbing a cloth on it will take that away. I've used the mouse frequently right after washing my hands to test how well it grips when wet, and it's amazing how well it does. No problems here.
+Top of the line sensor with no acceleration, angle-snapping, or smoothing. Cursor movement feels extremely "raw" and true to movement.
+Mouse wheel isn't too stiff, but has just enough give to feel nice when scrolling. It's 24 notches instead of 16 like the older ones, a change I personally appreciate.
+Switches used in this mouse are still blue Huano like the older mice; they're a bit harder to actuate than other mice, but most people might not notice, and those who do might like it if they play FPS games a lot. It makes it harder to accidentally shoot with your fingers on the switches, but not prohibitively hard to instinctively click if not focused.
+Cord is rubber, for me this isn't a huge pro or a con, but some people prefer rubber cords because they don't get fuzzy and tear when sliding against a surface frequently like braided ones might. It also keeps the mouse feeling lighter, which is part of the intended feeling of this mouse, so that's nice.
+It's light. As I previously said, Zowie mice are marketed to serious gamers, and the FK1 doesn't break the tradition of cutting out unnecessary weight. This makes it indispensable if you play at a low sensitivity in a shooting game and have to lift your mouse a lot.
+Low lift off distance. For people who lift their mouse up a lot and don't want it to track in midair, this prevents cursor creep between swipes. This mouse does a great job at not tracking when it's not completely flat on a surface. You can adjust this by plugging it in with certain buttons held, similar to how you change the frequency at which the mouse polls input.
+Driver-less, easy to change between polling frequency, and CPI steps.
+Comes with replaceable feet in case you need to change them.
+2 extra buttons on each side of the mouse, but only one side of your choice works at a time.
Cons:
-CPI step changing button and LED are on the bottom of the mouse; It's nice that this ensures I won't accidentally toggle it, but it also removes the possibility of quickly switching between settings in the middle of a game if I want to.
-Zowie mice have a very high click latency; some people might not notice it, but if you're used to something like a Logitech gaming mouse like I was, you can tell there is a larger amount of time from you clicking the mouse to it registering on the computer. It's not a huge deal-breaker, but it might take time to adjust too. This is done to prevent wearing switches from causing the infamous "double click issue." If the de-bounce time on a mouse is set high like it is in Zowie mice, then slower registering switches won't make you think to click a second time because you expect a latency from click to action(again, not a huge delay, but enough to solve this issue) It's a design choice I don't like, but I understand. Despite that, there's a lot of professional gamers who use these mice anyway, so I don't think it's a huge negative.
-There are still a few issues you might get if you are shipped a bad mouse. My first mouse worked perfectly for 2 weeks and then started disconnecting and reconnecting itself from my system every couple of minutes. My second mouse had a strange ghost-tracking issue where if I let it sit still, every once in a while my cursor would climb diagonally for no reason. I'm returning it for a second time today, and I hope the third time is the charm. That's why this review is 4 stars and not 5. The mouse is great, but I don't think I should have to play the lottery to get a good mouse; make sure to buy a square trade plan for 2 years if you're concerned like I was so you can always get a new one if things go south over a month after you get your mouse.
-Some people say Zowie customer support is hard to deal with. They seemed willing to cooperate with me on this RMA without issue, but it took them almost a week to respond to my initial email inquiry. Seems like they're just understaffed.
All in all, it's a great mouse, but for me it was a journey to get one that worked will, and I'm not quite there yet. When I find one, I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come. I was never into ambidextrous mice and preferred right hand ergonomic ones for my gaming, but upon suggestion of a friend I picked it up, and I'm certainly glad I listened. Make sure you purchase with persistence, however...
EDIT 11/10/2015: Well, after a third replacement mouse, I've had this one for over a year and a half with absolutely no issues. I don't regret the purchase at all, and fully expect this mouse to last me at least another few years. I'm assuming that I got really unlucky with the amount of defective mice I was shipped, so I've changed my review from 4 stars to 5 to reflect the quality of this mouse as opposed to my overall purchasing experience.
First impression is a very simplistic, yet beautiful mouse. 10/10 for design and comfort for me (i have small hands and use claw/fingertip grip) The click are really satisfying to use, and the side buttons are easily accessible too. The scroll wheel can be stiff to begin with, but when you get used to it you find it to be very solid and precise. Although, sometimes, it won't register a scroll and you have to push a bit forward for it to register, many people believe this as a big issue, but i find no difference in web browsing and very little in gaming. I mainly play CSGO (where i'm a Legendary Eagle) but i play a bunch of other games and it works lovely) Now into technical stuff, it has a modded avago 3310 optical sensor, and since the first day i started using it i felt i improved a lot in CSGO, i felt more accurate, smooth, and precise. It works very well on a QCK soft cloth mousepad. You can change between 4 DPI steps with a little button on the bottom of the mouse: 400, 800, 1600, and 3200. And you can change the USB polish rate through a combination of buttons when plugging the mouse in the computer: 125hz, 500hz, and 1000hz. The mouse itself works perfectly on any combination of these and i found it to have zero acceleration and smoothing, also the extremely low lift-off distance tracking of the mouse serves wonders for CSGO. I have had this mouse for over a month now and it works perfectly, it also has a really nice plastic surface which dries incredibly fast when it gets wet from hand sweat and grips fantastically, it has 2 very big mouse feet that glide smoothly across the mousepad, and a rubberized cable connects the mouse to your PC. If you are searching for a new competitive fps/tps gaming mouse, you have relatively small/medium hands and you use claw/fingertip grip, look no further!
