You'll also need some microfiber towels to wipe up everything and some soap and water to clean your car up when you stop working on it. I've got an old charger srt-8 with the little vinyl strips from the last 1/4 of the back doors to the tail lights. I spent about an hour on it this morning and managed to get 75% of the drivers side off. It's a slow and tedious process. Be patient and wipe the overspray off your paint as you go. Just follow the instructions and let it work on the adhesive. I used a finger to swirl it around and that seemed to help get it loose from the paint. Because it wasn't a spray and wipe once and done, I had to take a star away. It took several applications for each section to get all the adhesive. I read somewhere it's clear coat safe. Be cautious if you aren't 100% certain about your clear coat. 3M really makes good products.
Luckily I was able to remove the discoloration by sanding it with 1200 grit paper and then buffed back up again but you need to be really careful with this stuff. The painted surface that this damaged was done by a body shop (I have the original receipt) so it must have been an automotive-grade paint - probably a base/clear because when I was sanding I got no color. I would think that a company like 3M would test a product like this better...
I don't think the rest of the car has any other repairs with different paint but I immediately stopped using this because it ain't worth the risk.
Personally I would never take a chance with this stuff again unless I am absolutely sure that the inconspicuous paint it's tested on is the paint on the rest of the car. It did remove the adhesive pretty well on the first 2 panels but I'd rather use Goo Gone or similar because even though it doesn't work as well it doesn't destroy paint.
