Mercury levels between two individual tuna can vary widely even between two tuna of the same size, same school and from the same location. The only way to know the purity of a fish is to test it. We partnered with engineers and scientists to develop a proprietary technology that can test each and every tuna for mercury. No other brand does this.

Safe Catch has tested over 2,000,000 fish to date. Every fish used in Safe Catch Elite tuna is tested to a mercury limit 10 TIMES stricter than the FDA limit. I don't know why the grocery store's PREMIUM, white and whole piece/large chunks tuna I have enjoyed for decades has evolved into mushy, foul-smelling slop. All 3 major brands are guilty. First, it was Chicken of the Sea- I thought spokesperson (spokesfish?) Charlie must have died and he was replaced with a catfish because that is the only explanation I could think of for the strong stench of cat food when opening the can.
After the other two followed suit, I started buying *** Tuna. I was willing to pay the higher price for a product I thought was ethically caught and processed solely in the US under the stricter FDA guidelines. Then I read about a class action suit brought against the company for false claims about both their sourcing and where the fish is actually processed. This may or may not be true, but it was enough to spur me to look at other options. I was happy to find this brand, particularly since the cost is about HALF what I had been paying. I was also pleased to have the option to get 'no added salt'. Since these critters live in salt water, I feel that is plenty of sodium for me.

I stumbled upon this brand of tuna just after the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shelves in my local market had been stripped of many items, including canned tuna. This one was still on the shelf, no doubt owing to its price. But what a nice discovery.
I'm happy that this tuna has been caught by people with the highest of principles, but what convinced me to buy it again was the great flavor. This tuna is canned with only a little salt--no water and no oil. It's flaky and fragrant. For some time I had been buying Italian tuna canned in olive oil, which is a marked improvement over the mass-marketed tuna packed in water that is most common. But this tuna is better by far. Yes, it's a little dry, but that is easy to repair as I'm cooking. For example, it takes about three times as much mayo to use it in tuna salad, but the result is so superior. The taste is light but definite and the mayo, even in higher proportion, takes a back seat.
I was pleased to find this offer on Amazon. With a purchase of a 12-can box, the tuna costs a third less than that in my local market. There will be no challenge in using all 12 cans.
