I have a musicman stingray 5 string. The sound I like is these fender strings and the music man passive pickups for a precision and jazz combination that is solid in clarity but unique to others. The lows are more to the percision bass sound and the highs are leaning a little to the jazz sound. the medium fender strings are perfect except I had to inlarge the string hole on the B string very slightly because the string was exactly the size of the hole. (tight fit) I have Fenders and a Yamaha and have always liked the quality of fender strings. The quality of these strings are legendary and at sale prices a excellent choice.

If you've bought or played a new American made Fender bass in the recent past, then these were the strings on that bass. I liked the way my American Standard Jazz Bass sounded when I bought it so I figured I'd stick with these strings for a little while. I normally like DR Lo Riders on my passive basses, but these strings are pretty decent sounding and less expensive than the DR's. The .110 E string works great for drop D tuning - it doesn't get so floppy. This set is pretty versatile. I can get a nice scooped tone for slap, but still have a decent low mid sound when I favor the bridge pickup for fingerstyle playing, and a nice big rock tone run through a Sansamp BDDI. Enjoy!

Yeah, I do understand that these say taper wound, not tape wound. And I bought them by accident because of that. Also, why on Earth would anybody use this name, when tape wound is a whole class of string type?

These are round-wound string, but they are nickel plated steel windings and round core, so among the roundwounds they are among the warmest sounding ones.

The E string is tapered (thinner over the bridge saddle) which I'm not so sure about. I suppose it helps some folks with intonation but you have to set the saddle higher when putting these on.

These are the ONLY strings that I use on my Fender American Jazz Custom Deluxe bass. I've been using this string for over 15 years. They feel great & they last longer than almost any other string available. The taper wound 'E' string is .110 so you'll have to adjust your bridge. Other than that you can't go wrong with this string.

These are the stock strings for the Fender American Standard Precision V. I have tried others and keep coming back to these. Sound great and long lasting.

B string has a slight mis-winding around the 6th fret, like a big dimple that you feel everytime you slide over that spot when playing. Never seen this on a bass string before. The dimple is easily seen with the naked eye, wasn't even trying to look for it. Hoping to get a B-string sent to replace this one. The strings are very nice, but still not long enough for my 35" scale length bass. The B and E string still come up short on the top windings. I will have to look elsewhere.
