Yamaha Drum Pack in Cranberry
Carley's Everyday Mom Reviews
Product Description
Yamaha Stage Custom, loved by drummers all over the world since 1995. Made from 100% birch wood, which has been used as a typical material for Yamaha drums for many years, is used to create same high functionality and quality as the high-end class. Stage Custom Birch is a solid drum for solid drummers. The shells use 100% birch, which has been responsible for the distinctive sound of Yamaha drums for many years, and offers short decay, quick attack, and tight sound with good separation. Yamaha Stage Custom kits feature metal parts that are the result of our expertise as a comprehensive musical instrument manufacturer, combined with years of research and development.
From the manufacturer
Yamaha Stage Custom Birch
The ultimate in tone and value for more than 30 years, the Stage Custom Birch series is great for the beginner or the working professional. The shell is a key factor in a drum's ability to 'rumble', or resonate. Accordingly, the Stage Custom employs 100% birch - a classic in the realm of high-class drum kits. With its beautiful high-gloss lacquer finish and six-ply structure, the Stage Custom Birch accurately conveys the vibrations produced at the impact surface, achieving performance that overwhelms anything in its class.

Never new that Birch sounded amazing in any room my Gretsch maple kit is awesome too but I always find my self re tuning it in different rooms
If you don’t like Yamaha still go get any Birch kit
Im ridiculously happy with this kit also the natural wood kit I got has like a bit of a honey gold color that makes it look amazing I will be telling my church to get rid of all maple kits and go with Any birch. trying to make the sound guys life a bit easier
Lol!!! Hope this will be helpful to someone
Bottom line looks amazing made with really good quality parts most important this kit sounds ridiculous for $749 bucks really??????
The one criticism I got is the snare drum — didn’t like its sound. But even beginner drummers such as myself quickly learn to appreciate nuances of the snares’ sound and start buying separate snare drums more suitable to their taste. So I’m not sure anyone even uses snare drums that come with kits, unless it’s a $5k kit. A truly good snare drum should probably be more expensive than this entire kit anyway.
I have been playing these for a few weeks now... and all I can say is wow. Yamaha knows how to make drums (I can see why many top players prefer Yamaha). They are amazing. The birch wood gives a nice tone. The mounting toms and leg toms are top notch. I love the honey amber color so much! This is a amazing set for the price. It's great for jazz-metal. Just replace the drum heads for the tones you are needing. I recommend Aquarian or Evans.
I bought the shell pack. I already have cymbal, hi hat, snare stands. They do come with drum mounting hardware for the toms and floor tom. If you are looking for a professional sounding kit without spending thousands of dollars. Highly recommend this kit.

I got the 10, 12, 14, with a 20" kick in raven black finish ( Go Ravens :D )
I couldn't be happier with the purchase. I first played the drums with the Remo UT heads that came stock, and then later switched to Evans G2 batter heads and G1 resonant, combined with an E-Mad2 w/ stock Yamaha remo resonant bass drum head.
The drums arrived in the original packaging which is a wonder of its own. Everything was very compact and well-packaged, and the hardware and drums were all in great, safe condition upon delivery. The bass drum had a slight bit of separation where its plies meet on one side, but that was not enough for me to send them back. Otherwise I still believe the drums to be "like new" as described.
They are 100% birch drums and since 2014 Yamaha uses 6 x 1.1mm plies, so it is dense wood and relatively thick drum. Some would say these drums don't sing and are hard to pull any resonance or flavor out of, but I would disagree. With proper tuning and good heads these drums sound better than the many similarly-priced drum sets I have played. I think they sound great and the drums and hardware are manufactured really well and do not sacrifice quality. The hardware is the same hardware Yamaha uses for their premier, top-of-the-line kits and I think that shouldn't be left unsaid.
There is good reason that Yamaha is a name that is seen all over the world in music, and I am a proud owner one of their kits!
If I had to pick one thing negative - it would be toward the snare. It's perfectly fine and usable, and has 10 tuning rods (awesome), but if one was to invest in another really nice snare drum with a nice set of cymbals this kit is perfect for learning or playing events.

My main problem with these is the color appeared more brown/orange with wood grain, but in person these are just bright orange. I wouldn't have bought these if I saw them in person.
