Moving Beyond Bitterness and Grief“The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”(Psalm 34:18)If you’re going through a dark season in your life, know that there is hope. In this true account of God’s healing power, Lemons and Lace—Bitterness to Beauty reveals how to turn your mourning into dancing so that you can gain a new sense of freedom and hope for the future.Young, in love, and dedicated to church ministry, Pam—a pastor’s wife—and her husband Rick seemed to have the best of everything. They were unaware that in their life’s journey a series of adverse events would test all they knew about each other and the God they committed their life to serving. From the death of their 14-month-old daughter, Pam’s cancer, marital complications and uncertainty about where God was leading them, the couple is left swimming in a sea of doubt about their future. As insecurities grow, brokenness leads to more destruction with Rick eventually taking his own life. Stricken with grief and guilt, Pam reaches out to the only One who can deliver her from her troubles. Has your world suddenly been turned upside down, shaken by undeniable grief and mourning? God, in all His majesty, knows your heart, hears your cry and—like Pam—will exchange the bitterness of life for the beauty of who He is and who you are in Him.

About the Author
Pamela Botteicher Fleming grew up in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. One of the biggest influences in her life was her mother, Deborah (Mary) Bottiecher. Having received Jesus as their Savior at nearly the same time - Pam watched as her mom grew in faith and ministered internationally. Married in 1974, Rick and Pam were pastors at several churches, until they founded the Altoona Full Gospel Church in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Here Pam served as the Music Minister while also helping to produce local television shows. She did a segment called "Ponderings" for Cornerstone Television's "Getting Together" program, out of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Rick also managed this station for seven years while serving as pastor of the church. After seventeen years of ministering in Altoona, they worked for eight years at a children's home as houseparents and houseparent trainers until Rick's death. Pam has three children: Nathan, Elizabeth (Deceased) and Megan. In 2013 she married David G. Fleming. Together they have ten grandchildren, a dog named Tucker and a cat named Stubs. Currently attending Christ Community Church in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, Pam is involved with the Women's Ministry and is the Director of Community for Mom's. She has also enjoyed taking mission trips to Mexico City and Thailand. Her passion is: -For everyone to know the One who walks beside you and will never leave you-no matter what the circumstance-His name is Jesus! -To see people healed from depression, grief and the spirit of suicide and to bring suicide awareness to the church. The juice of a lemon is unpleasantly bitter but when it is mixed with the water of our growth and the sweetness of our blessings, the lemon produces a product that is both refreshing and pleasing to the soul. Such is the message of "Lemons and Lace"—a journey from heartache to hope. Pam Fleming is light-hearted, yet vulnerable and raw, as she shares her easy-to-read story about her own personal loss and how her faith anchored her in times of intense storm. She offers her audience encouragement that they have the power to let the deepest wounds and darkest moments transform them into something beautiful. I love the wisdom she allows the audience to ponder on when she says “it’s at these times that we need to decide how to live our lives. When difficulties come, do we wallow in bitterness or do we persevere through the trial and come out as a sweet refreshing drink?” This book is a must-read for anyone who has ever felt silenced by shame, depression, or a broken spirit.

This is a quick and easy read, but the message of hope it brings will linger long after the last page has been turned. The author courageously allows access to some of her most personal and painful moments in life, along with the accompanying thoughts and feelings she experienced. What emerges is a beautiful testimony of a God Who is faithful to bring provision, healing, and restoration to our deepest, darkest soul wounds, if we allow Him. Whether you're looking for an encouraging story or are in the middle of a desperate situation yourself, this is the book for you!

A wonderful, uplifting book of victory over so many crushing events in life. A must read for women of all walks of life who have experienced or know someone who have experienced a life changing event. Death of a child or husband, parent, betrayal, cancer, or life changing disease, upheaval, or other events. Pam finds victory in all of these events. Through it all she never looses her faith and trust that God has everything under control.

I liked that the author shared her story completely, no sugar coating the bad .

I found how Pam's faith in God helped her to walk through many 'valleys' in that she encountered in her life. While she didn't understand why these things happened in her life, she continued to lean on God...as He brought her out of the 'valleys' and to the mountaintops. I talked to a friend who read the book who has gone through similar challenges in her life and how helpful the book was for her.

I was so inspired and encouraged by Pam’s testimony, through it all, each Scripture referenced was so appreciated and appropriately placed throughout the book. “Lemons and Lace” is confirmation that God continues to give us “Beauty for Ashes”!
