I also wish the ruler built in to the saw actually matched the printed distance from the fence...it doesn't!
For the money and otherwise good quality cuts and ease of use, this is a great saw.
I did remove the factory blade and replace with a Freud Diablo blade with more teeth per inch for a cleaner cut.
So to start with, the saw fits the bill ... relatively light weight, stable, powerful enough to do the job, and doesn't take up much space in storage. I've owned an older model of this saw, and it was great. The box did come damaged, though, but the saw was fine.
BUT ... The instructions for assembly were a bit confusing. One of the bolts did not fit properly, and the stand that came with the saw was partially assembled, and was done improperly. After completing all of the assembly instructions per the manual, the rip fence would not extend. I had to disassemble what I had done, then remove the stand frame from the saw, reverse it, and reassemble. So other than taking 3 times as long to put together than it should have, it was actually a good thing. As I found out when taking the stand frame off of the saw, the factory had not properly tightened multiple bolts, which could have led to a failure that would have created a hazardous circumstance.
So I guess I was lucky they screwed it up so badly.
The rear outfeed does not extend very far so I replaced the rods with 24" ones and it works great. The current price is listed at $499 but it appears the Metabo version (Hitachi changed it's name) is $100 less. At $500 you may be tempted to go with DeWalt or similar but $399 and under is a great deal for the saw.
