After spending several days and weeks checking Kindle waiting for the next Heroic Villain to be released, it was finally there. A single click, actually a few clicks, and I my virtual library got a little bit bigger. I really like this series. This third installment was different from the previous two releases. I was expecting to read about more monster creation and dungeon developments. After all, Eri's evolving was cool and the academy opened the door for magic item creation. What I got was still a story that I enjoyed because it was about the friendship that developed between the core group, the coping and moving forward with life that comes after losing someone, and the ability to guide others down the right path even though it might be harder than people may want. Would I still like to read more stories in this series that focuses around dungeons, monsters and magic? I'm a gamer and an old school AD&D dungeon master. Of course, I want to read more. It's great getting to see how other people's stories unfold. I think what drew me into to this series is that it allowed the emotions and burdens of humanity to merge with fantasy and possibility. While it wasn't the book I was expecting, it was good and I'm looking forward to the audible release.

Charles, if you're reading this, you have my condolences. Having lost a brother and father within the last few years, I know that it's not easy. Fortunately, I'm blessed with good moments to remember them with. I do hope that you continue writing these stories. If you publish another HV, then I'll be just a few clicks away. After all, MMORPGs always have expansion packs that increase the level caps.

The media could not be loaded.
The novel delivers exactly what it promises, a good story with a good conclusion to this arc of the series. The fights and character development continue to satisfy. The only thing I thought was missing was more story. I wanted it to continue another couple hundred pages of new powers and to see even more of the hurt the main character (MC) would bring.

I just finished reading the third and final book of the Heroic Villain series. I thoroughly enjoyed it and thought it was a fitting end to the series.

My review:

I enjoyed The Heroic Villain, and pretty much every book released by Charles Dean, and this was a solid conclusion.

The tone is dark and very bloody, which is par for the course in this series. I still get grossed out every time Lucus eats an eyeball. Do they taste gooey? Crunchy? I imagine them being like a grape, the outside is solid with a flavorful gooey interior.

The best part of this series is the character growth. There are no uninteresting characters and all of Lucus's companions evolve throughout the course of the story.

Through this series we got to see Lucus as he grieved for his wife, and how he ultimately found a way to move beyond his sorrow.

I think Lucus's most powerful ability is his voice, which is true of any competent villain. By using his charisma, he's able to draw people over to his side or weaken the resolve of his enemies. I enjoyed the final battle and how the story resolved. The afterword by Charles made me tear up a bit.

If you enjoyed the first two books in the Heroic Villain, you owe it to yourself to give this one a read as well. You'll be glad you did.

Worth the time and sound booth rocks the house as always! This author is amazing at walking the line of drama/romance and combat, character development and plot.
I usually dislike harems to the point of dropping a book when they are introduced, but Charles Dean does an amazing job of making it interesting and emotionally engaging, so refreshing!!

P.S.
Charles Dean, if you get around to this review through the thousands you get. I truly enjoyed your writing and can't wait for more. The personal message at the end was truly heart felt, writing is art, take as much time as you need to bring your best. Thank you for the grand experience:)

Why did I choose this rating? I choose this rating because I enjoyed the book.
What did you like or dislike? I dislike how overprotective the protagonist was of the female cast while overlooking the females bullying male teammates.
Who would you recommend this product to? I would recommend this book to people who like this genre.

I love this series. On the surface, it's "just" a well-written series about a guy who inadvertently gets to play the villain (and likes it just a tad too much) in an old, failing Virtual Reality MMO and the adventures he goes through in order to succeed as a villain and rekindle the dying flame of the game.

That part is damn well-done, too. Entertaining fights, tons of grand-standing and (obviously) villainous monologues and gore. Plenty of gore.

Underneath it all, there are a couple, heavier themes running too. I won't spoil anything, but this isn't just a dark, bloody romp - it gets the emotions moving too.

I have to say I enjoyed the book for the most part but you can tell that the author wanted to be done with the series and forced themselves to write the last half of it.

I just chain read these back to back. Some plots you could guess, but was worth it. A few things you couldn't guess, and some false plot lines meant to make you guess before the reveal. I am saddened to read this was the end of this story, but the ride was worth it. My condolences on your father's passing, our parents are generally ones that helped shape us, and their passing is a huge part of our world disappearing. Now, on to the next book. Bathrobe knight?

This next chapter of Lucas’s story I have thoroughly enjoyed. I care not how long the wait is but how good the story is. And it does not get better than this.

Wow, was not what I expected. Well worth reading, different characters, different plot, well written for me and fast paced. Would love for the author to expand on this scenario but it ended well. Cheer for the entertaining read
