    Stained Glass and More
This is my fourth soldering iron that I tried out for Stained Glass work. All predecessors were less than $100 (just so you know I am not buying super high end irons to compare with this one). I bought one iron with the temperature tips, used one iron my hubby had in the garage, and the other iron I don't even remember much about because it was just crap. But this one, this Hakko one is awesome! I do lead-free stained glass, which means lead-free solder. (The temp at which the lead-free solder melts is higher than leaded solder, and the lead-free solder doesn't stay liquidy as long on the panels when soldering the copper seams.) This soldering iron makes dealing with the lead-free stuff so much easier. I am an amateur so any little tip or trick helps me. :) I can only imagine that with leaded solder, this iron would be a dream as well. I LOVE this soldering iron! (The image is of the panel I made with the Hakko iron; the panel is hanging in a window in my friend's clinic now.)
